So I have cleared the Egypt wait list

We traveled to Egypt in December 2022/2023. It was not with ABD and not during the current Gaza conflict, but if I were faced with the choice of going again now, I would. The tourist circuit in Egypt is still a long way from the war zone. And if Covid taught me anything, it's to take advantage...

Rented Pocket WIFI ~ Can you give me the facts? Where to get? Cost ? How do you rent??

Not answering your question exactly, but making a suggestion - do you travel internationally often? I purchased my own portable wifi unit about 6 years ago and have been happily using it ever since. The one I have is from Glocalme and was about $150 upfront. I put a local data plan on it before...

Planning an Around the World Disney Trip

We visited Paris in 2017 and Shanghai and Hong Kong in 2018 - trip reports and videos are linked in my signature, in case they are helpful. We’re finally going to go to Tokyo this summer after years of cancelations.

    First time-1 day at TDS

No experience here but we are also planning a trip for August - I will be watching this thread closely!

No more testing to return to Canada!!!

Neither one! There's no requirement to test to enter DR, so that's fine, but the Westjet agent should have verified our test results before checking us in for the flight home. We started to pull them out, and she just kind of waved them away.

No more testing to return to Canada!!!

As someone who just returned today from March break, this was too late to help with this trip but clears the way for 2 trips we’re planning over the summer so I am *thrilled*. (and for what it’s worth, in Dominican Republic they didn’t even check our COVID test results so I guess that was a...

CANADA SAYS 100% VACCINATED FOR CRUISES IN 2022

I agree that the prospect of being quarantined is the only real thing holding travel back right now for most people who are healthy, vaccinated and boosted, and still bound by jobs/school/other deadlines to get home. But I wouldn't give up on the idea of summer travel just yet, if your cruise...

CANADA SAYS 100% VACCINATED FOR CRUISES IN 2022

I'm not reading it that ships are accountable to test passengers at boarding - doesn't today's news mean that cruise companies only need to verify a test that passengers take up to 72 hours prior to boarding? And then, yes, they'd need to provide the test prior to disembarkation. Cruise lines...

For those of you waiting, what would it take to get you there?

We've got hotels booked because we can cancel those without penalty up until the week of the trip. I'm not sure if train tickets are refundable, but they probably don't need to be purchased too far in advance. Airfare would be the big thing, and I'm hoping airlines will still have flexible...

For those of you waiting, what would it take to get you there?

We've booked a March Break trip only because we have proof of prior infection/don't need to test in order to travel. We're going to a low-key beach area without crowds, have recent 'immunity' and feel pretty good that we will be able to avoid getting sick again. We'd like to go to Europe this...

Poll: Have you changed your plans?

This is only to fly to the US; no doctor’s note is needed to drive. We just went from Ontario to NY this weekend for a couple of days of skiing. We used our positive tests from December to cross back. No issues travelling in either direction.

Poll: Have you changed your plans?

We aren't changing our March Break plans because we also have proof of past infection which exempts us from testing for another few months. We are making plans to travel this summer, though we haven't committed to anything nonrefundable yet, but I feel good about it and I really do believe all...

Alleluia!!! Removing pre arrival covid 19 testing is on the horizon

I'm assuming if you're going the antigen test route, you wouldn't test for the first time until the day before you're due to come home. And if that test were positive, I'd then keep testing regularly until I got my negative test so I could get the hell outta dodge, because every day you're stuck...

Alleluia!!! Removing pre arrival covid 19 testing is on the horizon

They haven't updated the government website yet, so we'll have to wait and see how this plays out. From how it's worded now it sounds like you can come back with a positive test >11 days old, OR a negative test. If I got a positive antigen test, knowing that antigen tests are likely to record a...

Alleluia!!! Removing pre arrival covid 19 testing is on the horizon

Now reports are saying Ontario is set to drop all Covid restrictions by end of March (to be officially announced tomorrow), and I think Ontario is slower in this regard than many other provinces. I would hope if there are no domestic Covid restrictions then travel testing would also be a thing...

Alleluia!!! Removing pre arrival covid 19 testing is on the horizon

So maybe we didn’t need to pay for a pcr to prove our positivity after all. It figures. 😂 But I will be thrilled regardless since this will open the door for our summer travel plans.

    Alternate land border crossing routes?

Not yet - though Sarnia was still flowing early in the week, but now it's backed right up, between the Hwy 402 blockade and the traffic being rerouted from Windsor. I think the potential for other border crossings to be impacted is real. The good news is the 402 blockade is set up away from the...

    Alternate land border crossing routes?

Planning to cross at the Peace Bridge on 2/19 for a ski weekend and feel like it's a conundrum - if I don't purchase the lift passes soon they will sell out - but what are the odds that traffic will be flowing smoothly then? Tickets are nonrefundable so it's a gamble.

I Guess there's a Positive Side to Testing Positive (for Travel)

Agreed and wish PCRs were still available for all. Your only option now is to pay for your own PCR at a private clinic, most of which won’t take you as a positive case until 14 days post-onset of symptoms. And by then you may still get your positive test result, or you may test negative and then...
