Modern Day Etiquette Question- re:Telephones and Texting

Yep...never before 9am or after 9pm for me. Except for my one friend who works super early shifts, so we sometimes talk during our morning commutes at 6:30 am.

Vent-Explain my BIL to me please!

Wow this is getting a little crazy. Here are just my two cents, probably not even worth that: OP: If he never gave you a solid "Yes" or "No" answer, then I think you would be fine with asking again. Perhaps I was putting myself in your place (as I think most posters do) and I tend to be a...

    Karen Kingsbury fans..

Yes exactly! I loved all the "Baxter" series. I actually started with the second series accidentally (received 2 of them for Christmas), but really enjoyed going back and reading the Redemption series. I highly recommend! :thumbsup2

Is it appropriate to buy a bridal shower gift from the registry?

Absolutely! My SIL was actually mildly displeased when she got things that weren't on the registry at her bridal shower.

    Question for waiters/waitresses

I would say appetizer. Mainly because people would realize after their meal that they weren't hungry enough for dessert. But that would the be "selfish server" thinking. I also worked at a restaurant where we had to get the desserts for our table, instead of them coming from the kitchen. So...

    Best and worst characters

Alice and the Mad Hatter were AMAZING on our trip this year. My mom's camera battery died, so they had a funeral service for it, even sprinkling it with dirt and flower petals. Then held the battery and made crying faces for the picture once she found another battery. Priceless.

Yep...Lancaster is maybe 30-45 minutes away. And there are some great outlets ;)

    OT: Hershey PA

I live right outside Hershey, and there is pretty much to do. Chocolate World is fun with kids (and FREE!!). They have a little ride-thru about how chocolate is made and everyone gets a free sample at the end. There's also a "4-D" movie about the history (extra charge) and a place where you can...

White or Brown Rice --whats your pref?

I love brown rice. It just seems heartier and more flavorful. Especially at PF Chang's under a heaping pile of Chinese food. :lmao:

Things to do to relax in the parks

Aunt Polly's on Tom Sawyer Island has some great rocking chairs. The restaurant probably won't be open in January, but it's a really quiet spot to sit and relax while the kids run around.

what would you do if you received this letter

So, I might be able to understand this, a little, but not quite the extreme she went to. I know my grandma always had the whole family over for Thanksgiving dinner, but when she passed away, we tried to continue the tradition, keeping the same side dishes, desserts, preparations, everything...

    Spare Parts Children?

This is purely hypothetical, and JMO because thankfully my family has never had to deal with anything like this. But, if I was 11 and my brother needed a kidney transplant to live, I would hope my parents would have made me give him a kidney. I just can't even imagine 10 years down the road the...

    Bookcrossing?

Yep! The coffeeshop near my house normally has a few on the shelf. Very cool.

Do you have Air Conditioning in your home?

I have one window unit in the kitchen. And then set up fans throughout the house to try to get a tunnel going (luckily it's only one story). I haven't turned it on yet, and only use it when I need to, trying to save energy/money.

Capri pants bare scourge of summer: ‘cankles’

Do people really pay that much attention to other people's cankles? I have never walked past anyone in capris, shorts, or a skirt and immediately look to see if cankles were presenting a problem. Seriously? I think it's a ploy. All just a marketing, money-making scheme. And yet, in the back...

    Imagineering Books

I have "The Imagineering Way" which is very similar to "The Imagineering Workout", but more text and fewer exercises. I really enjoyed it. And it's one of that I can go back and re-read several times.

Looking for a good "doctored" bake bean recipe

I start with a large can of BBQ beans in the bottom of a casserole. Fry up some bacon (I use turkey bacon, about 6-8 strips). When it's crisp, stir in a handful of bread crumbs, enough that all the grease is soaked up. Then add 2 scallions, finely sliced. Pour over the beans, cover, and bake at...

    holiday decorations go down when?

They were in the process of taking the lights off Cinderella Castle during our 2008 trip, January 9-17. But they didn't turn them on at all, you could just see them during the day. And the crane was in the background of most of our pictures.
