Throwback Thursday - how did you plan your DL trip BEFORE the internet?

After X number of times to DLR, that's exactly what we do now! Only reservations I make ahead of time is the hotel. Everything else we just "wing it"! This way there is zero stress if things don't go as planned. :thumbsup2

What time do most hotel shuttles run?

AFAIK there are just 3 hotels that run their own private shuttles. Candy Cane Inn Hyatt Regency Sheraton Anaheim (no to be confused with Sheraton park) The rest of the hotels rely on the ART bus system. I've tried ART once and it was fine. The buses were clean and well maintained...

    Storyteller's Cafe Dinner Buffet?

The buffet selection isn't huge like you might find at casino resort in Vegas. However the quality of the food at Storytellers is excellent. Way better than most places at DLR. We always dine here for dinner whenever we visit!

    costco disneyland tickets

Costco started selling those tickets around this time last year. Here's the thread alerting people of the deal. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3007336 So far I haven't seen them at my local Costco :sad2:

At what point is it worth it to buy Season passes

I would check at your local Costco. Last year Costco offered 4-day PH passes for about $250 with a $50 Costco cash card rebate. I recall folks who were upgrading to APs got about $275 credit for the passes from Costco. No idea if Costco will be offering them again this year but might be...

    Christmas Crowd Planning Question

We've been visiting DLR around the same time frame for the past 4 years. IMO, the crowds will be heavier than a typical summer day. Some schools are already out that week so families begin to swarm the parks. I would estimate crowds would be similar to a busy summer day such as when Cars...

    Visted DLR on 8/12 & 8/13

The weather was certainly perfect! One of the reasons we've been reluctant to visit during summer is the hot weather. However the unseasonably cool summer happening this year in southern CA worked out perfectly for us! I can only hope we luck out again next August :-)

    Visted DLR on 8/12 & 8/13

In New Orleans Square we usually hit up the French Market for lunch. We'll have to try Cafe Orleans next trip! Thanks for the recommendation. We did the same thing with FPs. The phone apps came in pretty handy this time around.

    Visted DLR on 8/12 & 8/13

Like many have said before, BB is one of those places everyone should try at least once and judge for themselves. I actually thought their lunch options were less expensive. Turns out you get no breaks on the menu either. Lunch and dinner are the same. Though the experience didn't live...

    Visted DLR on 8/12 & 8/13

Been meaning to post some thoughts of new experiences from our recent trip. Finally got around to it. Enjoy :-) Crowds What crowds??? Our family has been coming to DLR during Christmas for the past 4 years so we are used to the place being really packed!! The crowds on these two late...

    Which hotel should we choose?

Guess I would consider myself a Sheraton Anaheim vet. Our family has had about 8 stays here in the past 5 years. It's an older property but everything that matters is well kept. We keep coming back here because of the FREE & PRIVATE shuttles. The shuttles run every 30 minutes throughout...

Favorite part in world of color

Best part of the show is the finale when they do the WOC theme song! :thumbsup2

    world of color dining packages

With your position on this, why did you go back 3 more times? :confused3 For the OP, you should also ask yourself what you will do for dinner plans if you don't get the WOC dining package. If you are going to eat at a similar restaurant, then just pay the little extra for the package.

What meal or snack can you ONLY get at Disneyland?

I haven't seen it offered around where I live but after looking around online, you're right! I just assumed no one else could call them "Mickey Pancakes" unless they pay the license to call it that. When our kids were young, I would make it this way for them all the while thinking one day...

What meal or snack can you ONLY get at Disneyland?

Three things come to mind when I think of unique DLR food. Turkey Legs Certainly you can get turkey everywhere but I haven't seen it served as a snack like at DLR. Mickey Pancakes No where else you can find these unless you make them yourself. Dole Whip Only other place I...

    Storyteller's Cafe or Rainforest Cafe?

Storytellers does come off as a pricey place to eat. With the fireplaces roaring inside and the exhibition kitchen, you would think it's costly. After eating at many places throughout DLR, we keep coming back here. The best value is the kid's menu. We always asks the kids to order the...

How late at night do the parks become almost empty?

We usually go during peak times when the park closes at 12:00am. On those days, I noticed the crowds really thin out after 11:30pm. It's really a magical time when you stroll through the park. It's a quite time when to reflect on what you've accomplished during the day already. It's...

    Storyteller's Cafe or Rainforest Cafe?

Storytellers by a wide margin. Order the kids the "make your own pizza", they will love it! Food quality is good there and like others have already mentioned, the place has a nice relaxing feel to it. After a long travel day, this place is perfect. I'm sure all the kids will enjoy the...

    Help with Dinner!!!

Our kids enjoy ordering off the menu (as opposed to buffet) at the Storyteller's Cafe inside the GCH. IIRC, every kid entree is under $8 and could choose from a variety of options such as mac&cheese, grilled salmon, burgers, and our favorite "make your own pizza" Finish the meal with their...

    Digital SLR's

Bring the SLR! It's only a minor inconvenience to carry it along in the park but you'll be so glad you did when you get home and download your beautiful photos. Like some others here, I bring the SLR and a P&S on our trip. Days when I know I want good pictures such as character meals or...
