Who's gonna be at the Fort July 19-Aug3?

We'll (all 21 of us) will be there from 17 July through 30 July. We'll be on 3 tent sites on, I HOPE, the 2000 loop. Look for our gargantuan lime ears (or eras, to some of you), our Mickey head string lights, our Mickey lamp post, our hands, and blah blah blah. If we're around, stop by...

    Too HOT for tent camping?

Our tents all have 2 doors, so we used the "back" door for the a/c. We stuck it on a wire outdoor end table, plugged it inside the tent, and zipped the door as far as we could. The rest of the opening we simply stuffed a couple rain ponchos around and duct taped those babies to the a/c and the...

    Too HOT for tent camping?

So did we, and it was wonderful! We weren't at all prepared for how ever-loving cold it would actually be in the tent, so the 2nd night, my sister and I finally went to Wal-Mart after midnight to buy whatever sleeping bags/blankets/comforters we could find. You had to see the poor kid's face...

    Lesbian Bars?

Hey all! I'm a frequent poster over at the camping board, but I like to come here to see what's new in the Disney/lesbian world. We (my boys and extended family/friends= 21 people) will be at Ft. Wilderness in 35 days (YAAAAY!!!). I've been too chicken to visit a lesbian bar by myself, but my...

Need tips on making my lime green Mickey ears

Since there will be 21 of us at the Fort in 35 days, I got a lime green tablecloth and cut out a huge Mickey head. We all signed our names and slapped on other "graffiti" in Sharpie, and then I affixed it to a bright orange tablecloth and Voila! Giant lime green Mickey ears! We don't do...

    Metal Shaped Mickey Ears

I just made one this week for our trip next month. My sister made a lamp post for me, and I did one of the wire wreath heads. But I used white Christmas tree lights because our Wally didn't have any rope lights in either the camping OR the light bulb section. It's super-bright and looks...

    Extending, PI, Seasonal, PT/FT...?

Hmm... thank you. This answers one of my questions (about possibly needing 2 jobs). It's my dream to start working at WDW in the summer of 2012, then in a couple years be in the right place/right time to get hired FT. I teach, and it'll be a few years before I can leave my job here. But...

    Making a career...

Great. Thanks for the heads up, Joanna. If ever I got to go full-time, would I make enough money to support myself, do you think? Would I need to get a second job? Thanks! Rose

    Making a career...

It's been my dream since 2000 to work at WDW someday. I have to retire from teaching first, but I've often thought that working summers now that my boys are getting older (heck, THEY want to work there, too!) is a good way to get my foot in the door. I realize that it probably doesn't...

    YES program

It's a great program. I took a "community" group of 10 kids and 4 adults last year. And this year we've expanded to 14 kids and 6 adults. We're 4 families, three of which are related (my family, my sister's, my brother's). We had an absolutely delightful time, and we can't wait to go back in...

Annual Passes, Dining Plan, & Camping

"I am pretty sure that I know the answer to my own question, but I am confident that all you Fort Fiends can help me be sure. We will be tent camping at the Fort for the 1st time in July. (Yes, I know about the heat, we are prepared for that.)" Hi! We'll be tenting at the Fort in July...

    disney for older kids

Hi. I have three sons, 13, 14.5, and 16, and this summer is our 11th trip to WDW (we've been going since they were 3, 4.5, and 6). I asked DS16 just last night if he still really likes coming or if he just does it because he LOVES his mom. :) He informed me that he really does love WDW and...

Disney Cross Stitch Patterns - Stoney Creek and others

Hi, everyone. I'm Rose and I usually hang out over on the camping board, but I'm a crafter and I stumbled onto this board a couple weeks ago. I love to cross-stitch and I'd absolutely love to do one of the castle kits. I hate to ask for copies of anything because I don't want to be flamed for...

Disney saying I didn't complete the Sign-up Process

I'm so confused. In my inbox I have the email that Disney sent welcoming me to the program and telling me all I have left to do is complete the service, have it validated, then wait for the voucher. But I don't recall ever getting anything from the state park coordinator. My sister did, but...

Would you let a 4 yr old use bathrooms alone?

My guys are 13, 14.5, and 16, so obviously their days of coming into the women's room with me are over , but Saturday night, 14.5 and I were coming home from a 4 day field trip and the bus had stopped at a TA-type rest area. He went into the restroom by himself but came out in about 2...

    Check-in

Well, I called CRO to ask there, and the CM couldn't help me (she said it wasn't legal to put the 3 sites in one person's name, needed an ID at check-in, etc), so she gave me Ft. Wilderness' direct phone number. When I called FW, Vivian first said it wouldn't be possible, then she said it...

How early can we check in?

We just stayed in 2000 loop last weekend and I will say it's a big difference from 1500 which we requested. There's double the sites and double the noise. No one in 2000 seems to care about noise any time of day. I was told 1500 was booked but we looped thru all weekend to see and there were 3...
