    SSR Renovations

I was fortunate to get a lot of pixie dust this week. I had booked a studio at SSR. When I checked in, she gave me a 2-bedroom in Congress Park. The refab was lovely. Too bad I was traveling solo because I didn’t need that much space.

Getting a hat back blown off during a ride?

Good luck. Last summer my son lost his hat on EE right around the first pine trees. It would have been easy for a CM to pick up but they couldn’t do it. He filled out the form and followed up but never got it back.

Best options for TS with same-day availability?

I'm not sure about restaurants in the parks, but some Disney Springs and resort restaurants have reservations available on OpenTable. Last Sunday, I checked OpenTable and about 10 Disney Springs restaurants had availability within the same hour.

Family of 8 with an age range of 7 to 84 (4 generations) with 2 on scooters, need a strategy.

When we've traveled with multi generational groups, we've found the splitting up works best. Well before the trip, we asked each person to rank the things they most want to do. Everyone gets 3 "must do's" for each park. Of course, there was a lot of overlap, but this helped with grouping people...

When renting how early to book?

The earlier the better. Depending on the rental contract you will have the the DVC owner, you most likely don't have to put the entire payment down when you book. That is something that can be negotiated if you are working with an individual owner.

On the fence, mainly because of home resort ..

We have owned at SSR and BWV for 10+ years. We can't always book at the 11 month window, nor the 7 month window, but we usually get to stay where we want, and we've stayed everywhere except Poly. We just haven't gotten around to that. We usually rent 2 BRs. In our experience, we have been able...

    Old no-expiration tickets

I did this with 3 partially used tickets this past year. They were 10 years old, and I think they were actually valid until 2030 or something extreme. I linked them, with the help of a call to customer service, to MDE so I could make FP+ 60 days out. It worked great. I sure wish I had more of...

Aulani room views worth the points?

We've been to Hawaii once and stayed at Aulani part of the time. We are glad we booked an ocean view room. Although we weren't in the room a lot, it was so nice to sit on the balcony and enjoy the ocean view.

Help me get excited about planning next trip!

Great comments above. I would suggest getting your kids involved in the planning--more than just asking what they liked from the previous trip. My kids love watching youtube videos about Top 10 Secrets of WDW or Top 10 New Snacks (I'm making these up, but you get the idea). Then they pick out a...

    Lost and Found

My son lost his hat on EE a few days ago. He talked to a CM, told them where it was and was told to fill out the form on MDE. He did that and included a very complete description of the hat. He was told they didn't find it. My DS said that the hat fell onto the path that the CM's would need to...

Have you ever turned in a cm’s good deed ?

I've done it a few times. A few years ago, we were selected for the first safari ride of the day at AK. The CM was fabulous to take us into the park early and point out many interesting features of the park and the plants before taking us on the safari ride. As we left the park that day, we...

Long Timers...Has it been easy to rent unused points over the years?

I have rented our points at BWV and SSR on and off for the past 8 years without a problem. I have done it privately through these boards, as well as through David's Rentals.

The week before Christmas - crowds???

We've gone the week before Christmas for the last 3 years. It's busy but doable. I didn't find the parks hard to walk about in, but the lines for rides and attractions were long. I would say it is far better than going the week between Christmas and New Years.

I wish WDW would have done MaxPass instead of Fastpass+

My DH and I were in DL in September and used Max Pass. Loved it!!! We used it at least 10 times in one day.

Advice for a newly Widowed Dad??

My heartfelt sympathy to you and your family. It is great that you are going on your trip to Disney and have as much planned as you do. My only tidbit of advice is to be flexible--if you or your children don't feel like doing something that you have planned, just skip it. When I have been in...

Is FOP still a tough FP at 60 days?

I booked yesterday at 60 days out. I forgot to get up early to do it and remembered about noon. I wasn't able to get FOP until the 4th day of the trip. I don't even remember what time slot I got; I just took it.

Multiple Resort Owners, Which and Why?

We purchased direct at SSR because that is what Disney was selling. We have since purchased 2 contracts at BWV because of the location. The last few years, we have planned trips before Christmas but only made the decision in the late summer, so we've missed the 11-month booking window. Only...

The Cabins At Fort Wilderness Or Beach/Yacht Club

If you have a car, the cabins are a great choice, but if you don't have a car, I would say YC/BC because of the increased time of transportation.

    Food and Wine expectations?

That's exciting to try to figure out. We have been to Epcot often during the Flower and Garden Festival, and we love it. It seems like the lines at the kiosks aren't bad and there are a lot of fun things to try. I haven't been a bit attender of F&W, but I've been there a few times during the...

Disney Springs - the week before Christmas

We were there last year at the same time. We had an early reservation at the Rick Baylass restaurant, and by some good fortune, the host sat us at a table with a great view of the drone show. We saw another drone show from SSR later that night.
