Hard time at a DVC resort

Another question for the warden - since I'm a prisoner of the state, am I allowed unlimited free access to the prison dining facilities, or do I have to pay for my food at the commissary? As a convicted felon, I might have some difficulty holding on to my cushy work-from-anywhere IT job, so I'm...

    Best Way to Make/Manage Reservation

Thanks, @intamin. I booked this morning and saw a lot of changing availability throughout the first 2-3 hours that the booking window was open - presumably, people are booking what they want and canceling at their home resort. So I lost out on BRV initially and settled for Kidani, and I...

    Pork chops?

Steakhouse 71 has a very good pork chop on the menu - highly recommended.

Hard time at a DVC resort

I'm having a tough time choosing my prison, but I think I've narrowed it down the three: 1. AKV. Location and transportation aside, it's my favorite hotel in the world, mainly because there's nothing else like it anywhere. The savannah is so peaceful, and I don't think I'd ever get tired of...

    Best Way to Make/Manage Reservation

Thanks - we've never done a split stay and I'm not philosophically opposed to it, but I agree it's not ideal. I'm just thinking we have a pretty good shot at getting that other night at AKV via waitlist, so I'm kinda banking on that. But I'd be really happy with BRV too. We're also looking at...

    Best Way to Make/Manage Reservation

Tomorrow is the opening of my 7 month window to reserve our 5 night stay in the fall. My wife and I are traveling with friends and want a 2BR. My preferences for resorts that I can afford to book are as follows: 1. AKV Jambo (4 of 5 nights currently available - only missing our 1st night) 2...

    Poly DVC vs SOG

Last summer, we did one night at SOG and then moved to Coronado Springs, which we booked for close to the same price via a Disney Cardmember deal. SOG is a beautiful resort on its own, and you'll really enjoy it if you stay there. Our room felt a little tired but otherwise was huge and very...

Tickets and Annual Pass Questions - Please add your ticket questions to this thread

We're planning a trip with friends in September/October. We're also considering a Christmas trip for my daughter's college graduation, but not 100% sure of that yet. Also, we're anticipating my wife attending an annual conference in Orlando in August, with me tagging along for fun. :) With the...

Which Resort for First Time Guests?

Standard studios at Poly aren't available for my dates, so I'm looking at lake view. Total for 2 studios would be 222 points for my dates, which is more expensive than a 2BR pretty much anywhere except GF and Riviera. Riviera 2BR standard is my first choice if I can get it at 7 months. I think...

Which Resort for First Time Guests?

Thanks for this - I agree with all of it! We've done plenty of commando touring with our kids, and I think we're over that now. A couple of rope drops along with a few days of using G+ to stack LL's at an evening park is plenty, allowing plenty of time for resort hopping, etc. I made a...

Which Resort for First Time Guests?

I'd love to do that, but this stay will be entirely on borrowed points. So if I book 2 studios at Poly and then want to switch to a 2BR almost anywhere else, I will lose the difference in points and not be able to recover them. So if I make a reservation at Poly, I need to be committed to...

Which Resort for First Time Guests?

That’s a good point about studios versus 2BR, and I agree about prioritizing that, but not sure about SSR. :) Seriously, we’ve stayed there once and it was fine, but it’s not where I want to take a first timer. I really do prefer Jambo pretty strongly over Kidani. The lobby, lounges, and...

Which Resort for First Time Guests?

I agree 100% - we love the Riviera! But we're also planning a December trip for our daughter's college graduation. If we stay at the Riviera (preferred) in September, then we'll have to purchase OTU points for December. I'm just not sure it's worth it.

Which Resort for First Time Guests?

Thank you all for your replies! So here's where I think I am: If points were no object, I'd do Riviera preferred. We love that resort, and it strikes the right balance of luxury, dining options, location, and transportation (we love the skyliner). But the point cost is just a little too high...

Which Resort for First Time Guests?

I've thought about doing a "placeholder" reservation at PVB, but here's the downside - I'm borrowing points for this trip, and 2 studios there cost more than a 2BR elsewhere, so if I'm not committed to staying at PVB, I'll lose points if I change to another resort. Still, it's a possibility - I...

Which Resort for First Time Guests?

First, a little background: we have been a WDW family since 2009, and we bought into DVC in 2018. Our home resort is PVB. We are now empty nesters, and for years, our friends have wondered why we keep going to Disney World so often. :) Now, a couple of our best friends have told us that they're...

Everything Genie, Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lane - Please Read Posts 1-7

My question was mostly out of curiosity, as we are planning to be there this time next year, but we usually purchase G+ before 7am (if we're going to get it that day) so it shouldn't be an issue for us. I was just wondering what happens in that situation - apparently you're locked into using it...

Everything Genie, Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lane - Please Read Posts 1-7

Quick question about sellouts at MK - I'm also seeing that the Multiple Parks option is not available after MK sells out. What do you do if you were planning to hop between two other parks and use G+ at both?

No availability for Fantasmic Dining Packages showing ever?

We were there last week and were able to book the dining package the day before or day of with no problem. Not sure I ever saw Sci-Fi as an option, but all the other restaurants were available at some point. We ended up with 50's at 5:00pm. With the current cancellation policy, there's a lot...

    La Creperie de Paris Reviews?

We ate there a couple of days ago and really enjoyed it. It was not busy, and the food was really good. We were a party of 4, and I was the only one who did the prix fixe - primarily so I could get a dessert crepe for the table to share. We had a good experience and would happily return again.
