August 22nd 2009 Western Carribbean Anyone?

Hi all. Well, coming home sucks, but we knew it had to happen. Huge apologies for missing most of you over the past week - we never made it to either the Saturday or Monday meets, due to various scheduling clashes and/or everyone scattering to the four corners of the ship, but your FE...

August 22nd 2009 Western Carribbean Anyone?

Hey all! Hello from Orlando. We've almost finished phase one of our stay - we've just packed up, ready for three nights at AKL. The weather has been great here - never too stifling, but Blizzard Beach was a washout today. Though we did laugh sitting there in a downpour eating a burger and...

Well, this is our first goodbye, guys - this time tomorrow we'll be at the airport, and officially on our way, so we'll see you all on the ship! Fingers crossed I can drag the entire brood to the meet in the Promenade Lounge... Safe journey, everyone.

Why won't they update Star Tours?

According to this story there's an update on the way. Long overdue!

It's definitely not as bad as regular flu. Like you, we had that a few years ago, and it floored us for weeks. This is more like a very intense cold for a few days, and then you feel fine! I've had worse hangovers :)

She's completely fine now, thank you Wayne. She came down with it on Tuesday evening, and by Friday you wouldn't think there had ever been anything wrong. Providing you're not part of the tragic minority to get complications, it really isn't something serious. A lot of the panic has been...

August 22nd 2009 Western Carribbean Anyone?

We're leaving for Orlando on August the 11th. Two weeks today! Yay! I'll have Internet access - and an iPhone - where we're staying, so I'm sure I'll still be dropping into DIS from time to time, to see what's new. Our Fish Extender is finished, we've picked up a few little bits and...

Thanks everyone for all the kind wishes. Vicki will be fine in a couple of days - she's says it's just like a mild flu, or a bad cold. It's her birthday tomorrow, though - and suffice to say, this isn't the present she'd hoped for! Still, we'd all rather it happened now, than in a month's time -...

August 22nd 2009 Western Carribbean Anyone?

It's reassuring to know that my 13 year-old DD isn't going to be the only one on her own. She's very nervous about going it alone, but she has always seemed to make friends easily, so fingers crossed... I'm hopeful that the Disney staff know how to break the ice for everyone. In other news...

August 22nd 2009 Western Carribbean Anyone?

My DD is in exactly same boat - she was hoping to be able to hang out with her older sister, and when I broke the news that she was going to have to go to Oceans Quest on her own, she was less than happy. If you'd like, I'm happy to give you my DD's Facebook or email, which you could pass to...

August 22nd 2009 Western Carribbean Anyone?

Hi Liz. My youngest DD just turned 13, and we're hoping she makes some friends too. I'm sure there'll be plenty of kids in the same boat (literally!).

Wayne, what would you say the ratio of tuxedos is to shirts and ties on formal night?

    Shuttle delayed again

I'll second that, Wayne... It has been a lifelong dream to see a shuttle launch. I'm crossing everything, hoping for an on-schedule launch. Although... given that it's currently scheduled for something crazy like 4.25am, if they wanted to delay the launch until, say, noon the next day, I...

Whew! You're right - looks like Palo is completely booked. Which I guess solves my dilemma over what to wear! No biggie. Next time, maybe...

August 22nd 2009 Western Carribbean Anyone?

That's actually the reason I've rented - because, with five of us travelling, it's just going to take up too much room to bring something. I'm not sure what I'm going to wear on the semi-formal nights, or to Palo, at this stage. Any tips? Is a casual jacket, over a shirt and jeans ok? And...

For what it's worth, my tux has been hired, and I can't wait to try it on. Having never had the opportunity to ever wear a tuxedo before, I'm looking forward to dressing up, and playing at being James Bond for the evening!

Thank you! DW is already hard at work on our FE, and we've some nice ideas for gifts. Should be fun!

August 22nd 2009 Western Carribbean Anyone?

Thanks, all, for your suggestions and help. I'm guessing we'll be making our own! Ok, consider us signed up for FE - my brood is spread over two cabins - 7572 and 7570. Looking forward to taking part!

Hi all, We're toying with the idea of taking part in FE - Mrs R is rather keen on the idea. Are we too late to get ourselves an Extender? Where would be the best place to pick one up?
