AKL, OKW, or SSR with a 2 year old...Which is better for all of us?

If you are traveling with a small one, I would recommend OKW first, SSR second and AKL third. Reasons in reverse order-------- AKL can be a long trip to/from the parks which at the end of the day could lead to an unpleasant one for tired children. Animals are fund to see, but if parks are the...

What are the benefits of the annual pass?

Much like Denise, I am a northern Michigander and have had an AP on two separate occasions. If you plan(s) your trip right, it can be a big benefit when you compare the cost versus a multi-day PH. I often wish I could make a weekend trip on a whim, but it does make you plan well in advance...

    Anyone fly from Saginaw Michigan?

I have flown numerous times from Flint and sooner choose that over MBS. Airtran operates out of FNT and if you catch the AM flight to Orlando it's a nonstop flight. Similar size airport and easier to reach from I-75 than MBS.

    AKL Kidani

If memory serves me right, there are 4 floors @ Kidani. that being said, ground level IMO is the best floor if you are in a savannah view room. One would think that the higher the better, but having stayed there once, we learned that lower is better for a close up view of animals

Will I be happy with POR?

Last stayed @ POR in 2000. Stayed @ CBR in Oct 2001 for Honeymoon and thought we'd try something new. Wished we had gone back to POR. Love the atmosphere, and for some reason it seems tranquil there. Have visited many times the last few years, mainly to eat lunches and head back to SSR by...

Are you kidding! Wi Fi madness

funny you mentioned this. I just read an article on cnn.com about the hotel industry and how the high $$$ hotels charge and the mid/lower end hotels don't. Basically it boiled down to business travelers will most likely expense the cost, and high end locations are not trying to "attract"...

    MAgical Express late evening?

If you were concerned about little ones, may I suggest they already be dressed in their PJs on the flight and therefore be ready for bed once you arrive. Assuming it will close to bedtime. Our family will many times take a 7am flight from an airport that is 3 hours away from home, and will...

    Transportation Question

Cab would be the most economical means, given the time of day. We took a cab from SSR to BCV for character breakfast and I thing I spend about $15. Just call bell services in advance of your departure(1 hour) and you'll be set. Can catch the bus(es) back to DTD. Renting a car is min. of $30/day.

    Airfare with Disney Package?

just booked AP room with DDP and airfare last week and after checking it against separate flight, it worked out less money and got to take the same flight I normally take on previous trips. In the past I would have gone the way of booking air on my own.

    BCV front desk Disaster

similar situation happened to us year ago last Oct. Night before checking in AKV I received a call on my cell phone from MS/Front desk letting us know that they could not honor my mothers request for a room close to lobby on a Standard View 2BR, but they could upgrade us to a Savannah View. I...

Confirmation mailed to family and not me?

My family has had the same type of experience with Confirmations and DME booklets multiple times. My mother, who live 60 miles away and I have a guessing game on which household the paperwork will show-up at. Most recently DME booklet showed up at my house. OK no big deal. However the guest...

Driving from W.Michigan, Am I crazy?

Flying is the only way to go........if you can justify the costs. As a family we have done the straight through driving from Northern Michigan. Going down was not a problem and generally arrived without any meltdowns. Coming back always seems to take two days however. Cannot gather enough...

Losing sleep about flying with my kids for the first time

try taking some small trinkets with you in your bag and gift wrap them. when he gets restless or fusses, whip out the present and he will be amazed by the wrappings and distracted by the "new" toy. Traveled from Detroit to Boston and it worked wonders with my 3 amigos

    Any Michiganders or nearby?

Our family has done the trip from Cadillac three times and have always gone down 1-75 the whole way. For us, it seems simple to get on one road and not have to worry about "what road do we take next", and secondly, 1-75 is the major artery to FL and services are plentiful most of the way...
