Can you room charge at Polite Pig?

Yes, they accept a DVC discount, be ready to pull up the Google/Apple Wallet screen on your phone. I have paid with my magic band several times at Polite Pig.

    Daily room checks

Yes, daily room checks are still happening and they do come in even if the sign is on the door. I think the wording on the sign has changed and no longer says 'do not disturb', I think it now says 'room occupied'. They usually knock then immediately open the door. You can put the security lock...

Jambo! The newest AKL Information thread

Even though the Mara opens at 6:30, they don't start selling hot breakfast food until 7:30. 6:30-7:30 is listed as 'Snack' in the app, not breakfast. You can pick up food from the refrigerator cases (like yogurt or hard boiled eggs) or limited pastries during the snack period. There aren't too...

    Hagrid’s “Express” Line?!

Unfortunately, Hagrid's AAP line has spots that are dark, crowded and/or tight. Some of the AAP line is outdoors. There is a cramped, subterranean tunnel feel to the indoor queue- not as tight as Kong imo. The final room before loading onto the ride is large but you have to get through a few...

    Headliner ride closures

Wasn't too long ago ticket prices were lower and Universal wasn't much of a threat. To have 1 thrill ride down in 3/4 of the parks is poor planning. Especially when many families with older kids are already moving towards spending more time at Universal and less time in WDW parks.

    DVC Cabins

That's not how DVC works. Legally, a certain percentage of the DVC cabins can be booked via cash by anyone, the rest can only be booked by DVC members who are using their points. Looking at the DVC booking site, there aren't any dates where the cabins available through DVC booking are sold out...

    Headliner ride closures

So annoyed that 3 headliners will most likely be down during our trip. We are travelling with 6 teenagers, 1 headliner down in 3 out of 4 parks will be an issue for us.

Asking to reride something if another group ruins your turn?

I would have asked for a re-ride. Sorry to hear you had to endure that. I feel even worse for the child who didn't have 1 adult member of his group 'take one for the team' and walk out with the child. How traumatizing for the kid. I am surprised that the CM who walks through during the final...

Question on the RotR Cast Members (Queue Spoilers)

The sunflower lanyard hasn't caught on at Disney yet, so I would not expact a cast member to understand what it means.

    August trip no park days

I think what you are referring to is the "Crockett's craft corner wine and woodshop". It is every Tuesday at 11:30 at Ft. Wilderness. You create a personalized circular wooden sign at the event. Reservations can be made by calling (407) WDW-PLAY. I have wanted to do this for the last few trips...

2 DAS interviews (me & DD)

I currently manage her account since DD is 15. I was on the fence about getting her own MDE account but will probably keep it as-is for now. We are requesting the DAS for anxiety, she had her first panic attack in a line at MNSSHP last August and it lasted 2 hours. I think adding anything else...

2 DAS interviews (me & DD)

When I do the video chat for the DAS, can I go through the process for 2 family members in the same video call or when I finish requesting the first person's DAS do I have to get back in the queue for the 2nd family member requesting the DAS?

***Official Planning Thread -DECEMBER 2024 - Welcome all!***

We are staying Dec 22-28 at the Grand Floridian but might change all or some of those dates to the cabins at Fort Wilderness.

What's your strategy for 2 days in the same park?

We do all of our favorites the first day because you never know if weather or mechanical issues will cause a closure on the 2nd day. The second day we go at a more relaxed pace, sometimes repeating a few of our favorites but exploring areas in depth a bit more.

    Help June celebrations

WDW doesn't do much for Father's Day- we'll be in Orlando on that day as well. Last year, WDW had some Father's Day themed desserts at Amorette's and a few resort quick services. I gave my husband a list of a few of his favorite things in WDW/Universal and told him pick his favorite for that...

Best 2 bedroom villa for 9 people

I would go with the resorts that have 3 bathrooms in the 2 bedroom- BLT & Kidani. At the very least, the ones with 2.5 bathrooms - VGF and Riv. I would only choose one of the 2 bedroom options if most of your group is planning to spend almost all waking hours in the park.

For those who take yearly trips..how many park days?

For the past 15 years, we've gone 1-2 times a year to WDW. We used to stay 1 week and get 5 day tickets. For the last 5 years or so we've stayed for 2 weeks in the summer and get 3 or 4 day Disney tickets but we now incorporate Universal. We get Universal annual passes and go almost every day...

Best time to take young kids out of school?

Early May and early December might both be a good fit for your family. The crowds are lower during those time periods compared to the rest of the year and the weather isn't as extreme as the rest of the year. Early May- Families are less likely to pull their kids out of school right before the...

Not sure where this post belongs but

It is spring break for the next few weeks and I think a lot of people don't realize how crowded the parks get during that time (it is the same at Universal as well right now). I think of spring break as slightly less crowded than the week of Christmas at WDW. One of the most helpful tools for...

    Breakfast at Boardwalk

I miss Trattoria al Forno's to go breakfast that they offered for awhile after covid. We used mobile order for their breakfast 2 or 3 times per trip.
