ALOHA! The Poly FAQ: Fall 2010 Edition

We leave for the airport in 15 or so hours. I'm not packed, my house looks like a bomb hit it, and I'm going a little nuts. I keep telling myself that Monday morning (we are staying overnight at the airport), none of that will matter. We'll be at the Poly by 1p. :thumbsup2

CBR or PO for resort only

If it were me, for a mostly-resort-only stay, I'd probably stay at PO due to the proximity to DTD.

Finally Decided!!! Thanks for the help :)

For your breakfast question, I haven't eaten there, but the menu at The Wave in the CR looks yummy. I have no desire to eat dinner there, but breakfast looks really good.

Leaving tomorrow am for Poly! Any questions for me to take with me?

Have a great trip! We'll be at the Poly on the 27th! I think it's awesome that you've kept it a secret from your daughter. I just told my husband last night that one of these days, I want to do a surprise trip like that. I want to wake them up with their bags packed, tell them we are...

    What makes a resort "Disney"?

For me, it's the total immersion in the theme. It's the whole package... music, smell, sounds, etc... There's nothing like walking in the lobby of whatever resort and being transported to another place.

does anyone dislike the AKL theming?

I loved the lobby, and the rest of the public spaces. I thought the theming was spot on, it's, IMO, one of the most fully-immersed themes on-property. As for the room, I was fascinated by the wallpaper in the sink area. I would love to have in my own bathroom, but I did find the bedroom area...

child under 3 eats free at buffet ?

I know the post you're talking about and while I don't doubt that was the experience of the poster, I think it's the exception rather than the norm. When we took the twins while they were still 2, we went to several buffets and it was no problem at any of them.

    Just not feeling it.. .

I've gone through that a few times with this trip. I think it happens from too much planning. The easiest way I've found to make it go away... mouseworldradio.com. Seriously. Listen to it for an hour and you will be excited to go again.

    I wouldn't stay at a Value / Moderate / Deluxe Resort because....

I stay at Deluxes because I've been spoiled and I just can't seem to go back to a moderate. Seriously, that one week at the WL was a gateway drug. LOL. I know at some point, we will have to (and I know the kids will adore Animation Suites), but everytime I book a mod (have yet to try a...

    Should we...

We waffled on MNSSHP tickets for months. We'd been before (the day before Halloween) and we found it crowded and generally just not worth the money (around Halloween, I could see the benefit of an earlier time). However, we ultimately decided to do it. I ADORE the MK at night (seriously, it's...

    May I whine briefly? Cancelling trip . . . .

I'm so sorry. Is there a way you could possible stay at a value and watch your pennies in other ways so you can still go? I say this because last year (a year ago today, to be exact), my husband lost his job. I was a SAHM and he was our only income and it was a total surprise. Needless to...

I will cancel my trip tomorrow

I'm so sorry that you have to cancel your trip. It sounds like you really weighed out everything and decided what was best for your family. I agree with the PP that stated maybe you could get the 11 yr old involved in the planning of your next trip and then maybe she'd have some ownership in...

    need 14 rooms, and help

This is what I was thinking as well. I would group the families by who wanted FD and who wanted RO and go from there, possibly using another person/name as the go-to for the second group of ressies.

    babies crying at bedtime

I was worried about this too. Back when we first took our twins (now 4.5 yrs) to Disneyworld (for a week), they were a few months shy of being 3, and, my son especially, would cry himself to sleep (even now, it still happens occasionally). We had taken them on vacation before, but that was the...

    September, when do you pack?

We leave for a night at the airport in 13 days. The plan is put the suitcases out tomorrow and start packing then. I need to make a list of everything, too. Usually, I don't pack until 1 day out, but before now, we always drove. Now that we are flying, I need to make sure that I have...

    15 and I can't stand it.

Economical condo or suite style room near Disney

We've stayed at the Doubletree and we loved it. The rooms are large, and we had a great (though distant) view of TOT. I've seen it for $99 a night, and I know sometimes, if you get the Mousesavers newsletter, you can get it for MUCH less.

    Making a payment online...

The easiest way I found to see if your payment went through is to go through the system again like you were making another payment. Your balance on your reservation screen with more than likely be the balance before you made the payment. However, your balance on the make payment screen will...

    checking into 2 hotels?

Okay, the lady and the tramp idea had me at hello. So sweet. <3 Makes me wish I could turn back time 10 yrs and make my then bf/now husband take notes. I got engaged by him handing my ring box and saying "here". Not quite the magical moment I'd always dreamed of. Good for you for putting...

ALOHA! The Poly FAQ: Fall 2010 Edition

Thank you. I had a feeling that I needed to call, but ugh... I hate using their phone system. I went ahead and called about 10 minutes ago. If we get our request, I hope I like either Rapa Nui or Tahiti. I know it's a hike to the GCH, but I really like the proximity to the TTC. As we plan...
