Concierge for Dummies: I booked it . . . now what?

On previous cruises my wife and i have been on there have been organized Palo lunches. Somebody just needs to start it up. There is usually one or more people that go to the lunch by themselves. In our groups nobody gets left out.

Why don't you rent a car when staying on site?

Being DVC members we always have eating facilities in our room. So we use the car rental to drive to the local Super Target to purchase food for most of our meals to eat in room during our vacation. Sometimes we have driven to meet friends while in Florida. We also like the availability to come...

    Palos Dress Code

It's not like people don't know before they cruise what the various dress codes are. They don't surprise you once you get on the ship. If it is a surprise then you have not researched your trip enough. With that said i will follow the suggested dress codes. If somebody does not want to follow...

    Fish Extender Group

Go to the group meetup page for your cruise. I would expect the FE to have been closed a month or so ago.

    DVC Member Cruise ~ August 24, 2015

I can answer that question. Typically we agree on a cut off number of participants for a group and if after somebody else wants to join, a second group is than created. We try to keep the groups to a sane number because some people (my wife) are creative and make things. We have had people make...

    Beer Mug/card question

It's called a "beer mug." :rotfl2: We bought the same thing but brought the mug home with us. I was afraid i'd lose the "beer mug token" and i wanted to use it at home. Technically the beer mug is the same as the refillable mugs you purchase at WDW. It is meant for usage only for that trip...

    Drink cost

Concerning the beer mug, if you drink 2 or more beers a day it is worth it. If you only drink 1 a day or occasionally don't bother with it. It is a cool souvenir though. Like the mugs in the resorts, it is supposed to be used only during your current cruise. However, i have read were people take...

    what about 18-21 year olds?

I forgot to mention that we are going on the June 2nd Alaskan cruise and our Facebook cruise group is just exploding with families that are planning a meetup before the muster meeting the first day. This is a great opportunity for the youngins to meet.

    what about 18-21 year olds?

I've wondered what this age group has too do during the time on the ship. My wife and i took our two youngest, that were in this age group, on the short cruise to Nassau and Castaway Cay. Our daughter hung with us the whole time while our son can be more of a loaner. I'm not really sure where he...

What's the DCL policy towards smokeless tobacco usage?

I could see an issue with the unlit cigar due to the perception of smoking. I think the policy is no smoking and as long as he doesn't light up he would be ok. It's probably not worth the hassles though. Concerning chew, again i don't believe there is a policy since there is no second hand smoke...

    Do you ever get apprehensive?

The only thing i worry about is whether our adult children are taking care of the pets. They aren't very happy about doing it. We have two of our children stay at the house and the third lives blocks away. We leave emergency numbers for repair people and the insurance company. The kids know how...

    Gifts

The other month i just called them and they emailed me a receipt. I prefer the personal touch of actually speaking to somebody. I printed out my receipt and will take it with me to the cruise as proof in case something goes wrong.

Craziest table mates you have had.

In June my wife and i will be doing the Alaskan cruise and our table mates will be a mix of table mates from our past two cruises. We all got along just great and through Face Book have come together to go on this cruise. Yes we have colored on paper and worn the napkin hats and creamer...

How quiet is the quiet cove pool?

We have found it to be quiet and peaceful with no disturbances. Unless you count the one time a couple was getting rather hot and heavy. They left (don't know why) before the real show started. :rotfl2:

    Books?

This June, Alaska cruise, will be the second cruise were a couple on our FB cruise page has a book/magazine exchange outside their cabin door. They hang a bag with a note to take a book/magazine and/or leave a book/magazine. No charge. The Cove Cafe does have some to borrow but the variety...

    Beer delivery!

You can purchase bottled water and beer through Disney and have it delivered to your room but it is quite costly. Bring your own. If you can carry it on the ship you can bring it.

    Bacardi distillery tour San Juan

When I did the Bacardi tour it was combined with a tour of a fort. It was not even a replica of the production facilities. It was basically a history lesson in a little warehouse facility. You depart into the gift shop of course. We were given tokens for two free mixed drinks. There were two...
