Am I the only one that thinks WDW is stressful w/ young kids?

We got back last week after visiting WDW with an almost 2 and almost 6 year old. I'm glad we went, and there were many wonderful moments. But I'm still recovering. My 22month old DD has just entered the temper tantrum stage, and was constantly on the go. My almost-6 year old DS has ADHD and...

    Child harness in WDW?

we're going next week with DD who is 22 months. We have a wrist one, and I'm bringing because that child can RUN! I'll be honest, in our area they aren't terribly popular and I had a lot of negative comments when I used one for DS (now 6). Actually, I took him alone on vacation once, and...

Dinner/Dance Cruise on the St Lawrence River?

I've done this boat cruise numerous times (I used to tour guide and we always did the dance cruise). You don't need to get too dressed up. Nice jeans are fine. But, it's COLD! It's way colder on the water, so dress warmly. Unless you are inside.

    Best age for kids?

We're going in a couple of weeks with my daughter who will be 22 months! (and DS will be almost 6) I think everyone has a different opinion on the "best" age, but for us we have found that every age and stage has it's own special reasons to go. Last year we went when the kids were 1 and 5, and...

Haven't received package from Disney Yet

Same here. We leave on the 14th, so I'm kind of worried, but I'm assuming it's just held up because of Christmas/New Year's. DH keeps reminding me there's lots of time ...

OT - Anyone else worried about new nanny laws?

totally get where you are coming from. We also have a live-in nanny. We think the world of her. She's been with us for a year, and we'd have her stay till our kids were adults if she would :) Having said that, she wants to move on when she is done working with us for 2 years, and we are...

    Taking a sitter to WDW

we've been talking about this also since our nanny will be with us. To confuse matters, her sister lives in Florida so we won't spend the whole trip together. We pay her weekly (as she is a full time nanny) so basically she will get paid her regular rate for regular days (plus flight, etc) but...

    Disney w/ a 9 mos old?!?! (and a 5yo)

we went with our baby who was 13 months and our son who had just turned 5. It was fantastic. He really really loved the baby swap/rider switch thing because he got to go on every ride twice. I also found we slowed our pace becasue we had the baby with us. I don't think that's a bad time. We...

    Too many character meals?

This is totally just my experience, and I'm not raining on the character parade, but to me it's a little much. Our last trip the kids were 1 year and 5 years (almost to the day) and we had booked all the character meals. 3 days into the trip we called Disney dining and cancelled all of the...

    Canadians in January 2010?

we are going Jan 15-22 and staying at Wilderness Lodge. We were totally sucked in by the Pirates of the Caribbean commercial, and when Southwest offered great deals from Buffalo ... we were hooked. It's our kids' Christmas gift. And we'll be there for DH's bday.

tips for dining with a 20mo child??

we're also going to disney in January and DD will be 20 months. The thing that both she and DS 5 love are travel magnadoodles. I have no idea why, but that's the one toy that I can pull out and it usually entertains them for a couple of minutes. I have to admit we struggled more with keeping...

OMG! I can't believe that happened at DISNEY!

I have 2. We took our kids, then 4 years and 4 months to WDW. When we were in DHS, we took both kids to the Playhouse Disney Show. I had the baby on my lap, and could not believe how calmly she was sitting "watching the show" - total Disney fan. Not so much. It turns out that she was pooping...

Disney with a 2 year old?

Hoping someone can share an opinion. We're talking about our annual family "summer" vacation (which if it's disney we do in May). We have started doing WDW annually, and love it. But, both dh and I are a little hesitant about bringing our daughter at the age of 2. We brought her for her first...

Do you stress over what the Kids eat on vacation?

we don't worry about it too much. But, having said that DS (5) kept asking us what the "healthiest" thing was. And, consistently chose water over pop in his refillable mug. It was weird! We don't get too stressed about the nights he wants just the dessert, but we always start the day off as...

    Infant plane travel

we travelled twice with our daughter as a baby. The first time was when she was 3.5 months. It was pretty easy and she nursed and slept and we were fine. The second time she was 13 months. It was a LONG plane ride. When we bought the tickets we didn't think to buy her a seat, but when I...

    Does your kindergartener have homework?

DS doesn't start school for a few more weeks. But, he was in jk last year and so sk this year. His school is full days Tues/Thurs and alternate Fridays. So, he gets weekly homework (or did in jk), we are to read to him and then he reads to us. Our teacher is not big on homework. But, she...

WWYD? Teacher using "themself" on the homework page.

I think that's a really, really minor issue. Part of my job is writing intranet stories for my office. It drives me INSANE when people call me or e-mail me to let me know minor editorial mistakes. As much as I always say I appreciate the correction, I don't. If it affects the story, sure...

    Losing weight for WDW!

We were on a really restrictive diet for DS (5) - not vegetarian, but eliminating processed foods, etc. Two books I really recommend are the Whole Foods Allergy Cookbook (it has amazing recipes that are really healthy) and the Eat Clean Diet. Both offer some great ideas for eliminating stuff...

    Does your infant/toddler dress up?

we dressed our 13 month old up in May. Our method was that during the day at the parks she just wore normal clothes (though admittedly we all matched) and then at night she wore "costumes" (cinderella, tinkerbelle, etc). She didn't mind them at all, but I was worried she'd get too hot. It was...
