Changing from rope drop to nighttime touring?

We've never been the "commando" or "rope drop" type people... Of course, I've been going as a kid, so we had seen everything and would go see the new stuff and visit the favorites. We knew we would be back, so we took our time and if we missed it, or it was closed, we could hit it next time...

Disney lovers first time at Universal

I was in the same boat; I wasn't really looking forward to the trip and we have always been into Disney... We stayed on-site and with the express passes we hardly waited in line the entire trip. Don't worry about planning! If you're skipping the lines you'll be able to go at your own pace...

Hogwarts Express worth the extra $55 each?

It's a pretty cool experience, but I don't think I would do it again because of the wait! Then again, we are not really into HP, so it wasn't a big deal to us.

    Closing a popular ride??????

I am a fan of the GMR, but I agree that the park is changing. I love movies and, at one time, saw just about everything in theaters or on TV... But, the movie industry has gone down hill. I agree that a of younger people haven't seen all of the movies depicted in the ride, but I don't think I...

    Pearl Diving Question

So, it was never at Epcot? I must have seen pictures years ago and just thought it was at Epcot... We had about a 10 year gap from 2003 to 2012 between visits and I had done some research for my niece's 1st trip which was in 2012, but we had planned, booked and canceled several trips before...

    Pearl Diving Question

    Does anyone remember this?

    Pearl Diving Question

I may be wrong, but didn't they have an area they would actually dive into a pool for the oysters instead of just the aquariums in the shop? Am I completely wrong on this or did they do it at another park somewhere? I feel like I saw this somewhere...

    "Dark Side" thoughts

I know it's not really one or the other... And WDW will always have a special place in my heart because of all the vacations we had there when I was young. Universal was new to me since I had not been since it first opened. I was impressed and I think there are definitely things both...

    Did Casey's change rolls?

I remember the size of the wiener more than the bun... 2012 was when I went and ordered way too many hot dogs thinking they were the old, normal size. We went back in 2016 at least I knew about the change, but I don't recall thinking anything about the bun.

    "Dark Side" thoughts

I agree! I do think that more vendors, instead of almost everything being run by one company, helps mix things up and bring more variety.

    "Dark Side" thoughts

I agree that it's not an Apples to Apples comparison and Universal, overall, is newer as well. WDW I couldn't do less than 4 days... I would probably have to go to each park at least once or I would feel guilty! Always going to WDW brings back the nostalgia that isn't there for me at...

    "Dark Side" thoughts

I also wanted to add that even though the parks were 8 and 9's on the crowd calendar, we did not have to pre-plan anything 2 or 6 months out! We ate where we wanted to eat and rode everything we wanted with minimal waits! The Three Broomsticks restaurant is extremely popular with the HP crowd...

    "Dark Side" thoughts

I'm not sure if this is the right area to post... Just back from a trip to the "dark side" the last week of May. My niece is 11 and has been to WDW twice for a week each and done just about everything. She is out of the princess-phase, but still likes the idea of WDW. However, she wanted...

    Did Casey's change rolls?

Like I said, it was because I was thinking back to a previous trip and remembered this thread after I got back when I looked everything up... I had been unaware of the change at the time, etc. These boards are as much about discussion and remembrance as they are for planning. Obviously, the...

Vivo Italian Kitchen or Mama Della's Ristorante

We ate at both on our trip! I liked Vivo better, but both are worth going to as they have different styles and atmosphere.

    Lombard's Seafood Grille

We ate at Lombard's one day for lunch and it was pretty good. The Calamari and the fish tacos were the best! My lobster roll wasn't bad, but I would get the fish tacos if I went back! The service was great and it was a nice atmosphere. It didn't feel like you were at a park!

    Did Casey's change rolls?

Bumping this because I was just thinking back to my niece's 1st trip to WDW with myself and my mother! We always went to Casey's when we walked by the first time on our trips! With my niece we waited until later in the trip one evening and I had no idea of the changes! I noticed the increased...

    Dining Reservations?

This is our first time traveling to Universal. I went once back when it first opened for a day while we were at WDW, but that was years ago and there was a lot less planning ahead! Do I need to make reservations for a lot of places? Even at WDW, I don't like a lot of ADR's because I feel like...

Universal vs WDW Crowds - Overall and Xmas?

I have been to Universal once when it first open or was at least in it's early days... My niece is 11 and once to go, so I was thinking around Xmas. I have been to WDW at Xmas several times and I know it's crazy. She has been to WDW twice for a week each time, so she has just about done...

Does anyone enjoy Mission Space Orange??

I'm not a roller coaster person as I don't like big drops... But, I'm comfortable with everything at WDW. Yes, there are rides with drops, but I can handle them compared some super steep coaster, etc. I road Mission Space Orange for the first time on my last trip. I read how it ruined...
