    Boxing Day purchases

What do you find is a great value on Boxing Day (December 26th)? I always check out the sale at Lush and stock up on BOGO or 50% off bath bombs. I hope it’s a good discount again this year!

Costco, BJs, Sam's Club - Do You Have a Preference (Discussion)

I literally re-upped my Costco membership last week so I could get the big, wonderful roll of wrapping paper and some yummy ore-made food. Well, they don’t sell the big roll anymore - now it’s a small 3-pack with print on both sides. I wanted the grid! The food selection was very similar to...

    Wine Advent Calendars

FYI, my experience is that you can’t ship alcohol via USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc. Only authorized/licensed merchants can do that, and state laws don’t seem to allow them to ship to all states.

Amazon Prime Day is happening again October 10-11

I see some value in the gift cards. Topping up my own Instacart and DoorDash accounts with the discounted cards.

Health Insurance Experts, Can You Please Tell Me What is Happening Here? (USA)

The hospital wants to get paid. They will probably re-code the bill and resubmit. You can call them and alert them to the issue, if it makes you feel better. I really do hate US health insurance.

    S/O carry on etiquette

I did volunteer once and didn’t get anything but a thank you. (And yes, my bag missed the plane and didn’t arrive until the next morning.) I was on my way home from a conference and the suitcase only had dirty clothes and travel sized toiletries in it. I was willing to take the risk so that...

    Grimace's Birthday Meal at McDonald's

I ordered three Grimace shakes tonight at the drive-thru and got them no problem. The app didn’t have an option to buy them as a stand-alone, but at least near Indianapolis, the humans let you do it!

Have you ever kicked someone out of your home or asked someone to leave your house?

Yes, a family member was physically violent and they were given the choice of leaving voluntarily immediately or leaving under police escort in 3-5 minutes.

    Good RX

The Walgreens pharmacist told me that when I use GoodRx it doesn’t go towards my deductible. I’m usually far from meeting it so I don’t care but for people who plan to it that’s something to consider.

    The pitfalls of dining alone

I still remember a server RIPPING into me for clearing a patron’s table when I was a hostess at Chili’s trying to cover for the underage busboy’s break. No malicious intent — just a lack of communication in an understaffed environment.

Tell me about your most entertaining office meeting

How is her size related to her hygiene habits? We have a very thin employee who leaves fecal matter and menstrual fluid on the stall walls. The best part is that she is *in* HR. The whole company is a circus but that department is absolutely the clowns.

What is the cheapest Christmas present you bought this year?

I got one gift free from the local “Buy Nothing” group. Someone got a duplicate shipment and offered up the second one.

    Recommendations on strong smelling candles

I prefer the “luxury” 2-wick candles. They are named as “No. X” and are infrequent Aldi finds. They were priced at $5 and $6 each in November/December and are long-burning and very fragrant.

You can get it more than once. Signed, had it more than once.

    Trying to feed 100 to 120 ladies at a church's 3 day event..Update 9/2

If they don’t have commercial ovens, baked ziti is going to be tough. Jambalaya is a good stove-top meal for a group but it doesn’t scream “church ladies” to me. If you don’t want sandwiches every day, we used to stuff tomatoes with chicken salad for “ladies day” at the golf course.
