    Suggestions for dealing with school

I am a school principal, and I expect our school nurse to call parents if there is an injury or blood involved. I hope that a parent would reach out to me to find out why they were not notified. If the nurse does not deem it necessary, I would address it with her. If it does not seem to be a...

    The IRS is messed up.

The taxpayer advocate was the biggest help in this mess! It was a huge process and a long wait to be able to get assigned one, but once she made contact with us, everything was resolved in a little over two months. You must have a financial hardship OR have tried to resolve the situation on your...

    The IRS is messed up.

We just received our 2019 refund a few week ago. We filed in 2020 and had to get a taxpayer advocate involved before the IRS would even look into it.

STILL waiting for tax refund. What the heck?

Still waiting on our 2019 refund. Was finally able to speak to someone at the IRS three weeks ago but still keep getting the runaround almost nine months after filing.

STILL waiting for tax refund. What the heck?

We're still waiting on our 2019 refund. It shows "still being processed" when I check the status online, which finally updated after we filed our taxes seven months ago. Unfortunately, we can't get through to the IRS when we call to check on why it's taking so long.

    Score!!! I finally got vaccine appointments...UPdated 3/28

Our school district didn’t hold their own clinics, but they coordinated with our regional hospital system. I got a call the day after my original post so I’m now scheduled, and I was able to get my husband scheduled, too. CVS, Walmart, Sam’s Club, and several other local pharmacies were also...

    Score!!! I finally got vaccine appointments...UPdated 3/28

I’m in North Alabama. I was on the waitlist for our regional hospital system, which is our area’s largest source of vaccines. They finally called to schedule my appointments the day after I posted. I was also able to schedule my husband’s appointments. I had also been staying up late ever night...

    Score!!! I finally got vaccine appointments...UPdated 3/28

I've been on a waitlist for months to get vaccinated. What bothers me is they keep opening new eligibility groups, but they can't vaccinate those of us on the waitlist due to a lack of vaccines. We've been back in school since September, and while I'm a principal and not around students as much...

Did you receive your Tax Refund yet?

We filed our 2020 taxes on February 23 and received our refund on March 9. It included the two stimulus rebates that we did not receive for our daughter. Our 2019 taxes are another story. We are still waiting on them to be processed. The IRS does not show record of them, but they said they are...

Last Meal before going into Labor?

We were at our weekly check when the doctor told us we had to be back at the hospital in a couple of hours. Our daughter's birth mom wanted Red Lobster so that's exactly where we went!

What's the worst thing you've ever been woken up to?

A call from an ICU nurse telling us to come to the hospital because my mom had taken a turn for the worse. She passed about an hour later.

I have to see a hematologist-what to expect

I had to see a hematology oncologist after my CBC came back with abnormal numbers. I’d been diagnosed with cancer three years earlier so I was scared. Turns out I had some benign parathyroid tumors that needed to be removed then my counts went back to normal.

    Do/Did your parent babysit ?

My mom passed away suddenly when our daughter was 10 weeks old, but she was over here pretty much every day until then. My dad isn’t physically able to watch her by himself. My in-laws both live in different states so they can’t help either.

First round of stimulus checks deposited today

We also got the "Payment Status Not Available" message. We have filed every year, and our AGI is below the threshold. Looks like we're not alone, and hopefully, the IRS will get everything updated soon.

    Hysterectomy Experiences?

I'm over five years out now, and thankfully, my surgical menopause side-effects subsided pretty quickly, in less than a year. If I had to make the decision again, I would do it again in a heartbeat. I don't have to deal with the excruciating pain anymore, and I feel like my quality of life...

Lost a dear friend to cancer

I'm so sorry for your loss. My mom recently passed away from metastatic breast cancer. She was initially diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014. She opted to have a double mastectomy, along with chemo. In November 2018, the breast cancer metastasized in her colon. She had a successful...

How often do you talk to your parents?

I used to talk to my mom at least once a day, usually on my ride home from work. She passed away suddenly at the end of July, and I’d give anything to talk to her one more time. My dad has never been one to talk on the phone much, but I find myself calling him more often these days.

    Hey October people!

We're here now. Up until yesterday, the weather was beautiful! Low humidity and a little rain here and there. Yesterday was rainy so we stayed out of the parks. We're at MK today. It's crowded, but manageable, but the wait times are way off on the app. (10 minute wait on app was really a 45...

    Teachers (particularly Elem!)-help me!

I'm an elementary school principal so I often help with the common bulletin boards throughout the school. I love the "Change Your Words, Change Your Mindset" board we have up right now. We found it on Google, but Teachers Pay Teachers has a lot of ready-made sets. Print, put up, and done!
