I just cancelled free dining at CSR for 8/24-31

Honestly! Of course learning takes place in places other than the classroom but spare me ... that's not really the excuse you give the teachers, is it? We educators do worry about the classroom and when kids are absent for extended periods of time it affects what happens there. I am...

I just cancelled free dining at CSR for 8/24-31

Frankly, I seriously doubt that every individual with a school aged child in WDW during the school year has a "personal situation". Most, I suspect, take their children out of school because it is either convenient for them or cheaper (whoopee ... free dining!!!) than school holidays or summer...

I just cancelled free dining at CSR for 8/24-31

WOW!! I had no intention of "hijacking a thread" or offending so many when I applauded the OP for her decision for not taking her children out of school. I am glad that you all have honor students despite regularly taking them on vacations while school is in session. I am sorry that you all...

I just cancelled free dining at CSR for 8/24-31

Sorry you had to change your plans but I applaud your parental responsibility! As an educator I am frankly appalled at the number of parents who apparently have no qualms about pulling their children out of school for weeks at a time. Make-up work is just that and does not replace time in...

Question: Critters at Port Orleans - Riverside?

Have been at POR several times ... even back in the old days when it was "Dixie Landings" and have never had a close encounter with any critters. If you look closely you may see one of those cute little bunnies from a distance but unless you want your encounter will not be "up close and...

    Airline Price Food For Thought

Not sure where in Wisconsin you are but we ALWAYS drive to Orlando from the Chicago area. Leave early, early on Saturday morning and arrive late afternoon on Sunday. Do the reverse on the end of the week and you have five full days and six nights to enjoy the world. I know that airline...

Has your DH fallen asleep on any rides at WDW?

Actually DH has been blessed with the ability to fall asleep anywhere, anytime. I, on the other hand cannot sleep on a plane and generallly have to be somewhere for three nights before I can fall asleep. Always have a good book with on vacation and take "cat naps" in DH's faves ... Hall of...

Where do you leave the tip?

OMG! I do too! I leave the tip in an envelope on the table. The table is always cleared off (okay! I am obsessive!) and it is clearly marked for the housekeeper (or mousekeeper when in WDW).

    Your Disney Pet Peeves

That's because we don't make anything anymore here in America! We've outsourced everything overseas!:rotfl:

First Day Arrive-What to do when not in park

We always drive to WDW (I need more than three oz. of liquid to keep my old self in presentable shape!) and will check in at the resort (SSR) by noon then off to the outlet malls! After a few hours of shopping and a quick stop at the grocery store in the Crossroads center, our room should be...

Live from POR..hate it here switching to the poly

I too would like to hear what went wrong at POR ... it is one of my favorite resorts period ... didn't care for POLY. Will be trying one of the "home away from home" resorts this time, SSR, but will likely return to POR next time around.

Stroller Outrage- What my Sister Witnessed

A few years ago we stopped for a "break and a bite" in MK and sat at a table next to a family of four - Mom and Dad and two teenagers. There was a wheelchair next to their table piled high with backpacks, purses, camera bag, etc. They finished eating and left the table, dad pushing the chair...

    June Disers

:cool1: Adult daughter and I will be doing the world 6-22 thru 6-28. It's a girls only trip that will include stops in Asheville and Savannah on the way ... and any interesting outlet malls we may come across. Staying 6 nights at SSR and have ADR's done for the first four days. Cirque tickets...

How much cash do you bring?

We bring relatively little - $300.00 each (2 of us) for a week. We try to put as much as possible on our room card or charge cards but have the ATM card handy just in case. We have never had to resort to the ATM and generally have cash in our pockets when we head for home.

Best time for Coral Reef --Lunch or Dinner

Have done both lunch and dinner at the Coral Reef several times (one of our past faves) and never sat right next to the windows of the tank. I would guess that you should ask for a seat by a window when you check in and as with other places with special seats (like Ohana by the windows for the...

    *YOUR* Disney Splurge!

I have already had my Disney "Splurge" ... back in the 80's we were down for one of our first on property stays at CBR. One afternoon we were wandering around in the downtown disney area and happened upon a store with lots of cels for sale. I fell in love with one of Rabbit from one of the...

    A Mousekeeping Tipping ???

My adult daughter and I will be staying at SSR for six nights in June (girls trip, whoo-hoo!!:cheer2: ) and wonder what tipping protocol for the "home away from home" resorts might be. We generally stay in one of the moderates (CBR, POR, etc.) and tip $5.00 per day. There is a lot more space...

Why have you NOT bought DVC?

Although we are die hard disney-nuts and our upcoming trip in June will be the second this calendar year (and we might go again in December!) we had a lengthy "lull" in our visits while daughter was in high school, college and graduate school. Still a close knit family we like to travel...

    Official JUNE 2008

My adult daughter and I will be leaving on the 20th of June to drive to WDW with an ETA of 6/22/08 (spending a day in Savannah on the way). A girls only trip that we are so looking forward to!!! I don't know the exact # of days but am dealing with some high stress stuff at work and a short...

Less than 3 weeks out and we got almost all our ADR's

I booked ADR's yesterday for our June trip (still a ways off but apparently others are having trouble for that month) and got first choice of place and time for each meal. We wanted to eat at new places this time out which limited our choices but we will be at Chefs de France, Hollywood and...
