What a fabulous trip report. Excellent photography. I feel exactly the same about using photos to document your life, and I'm sure I'll shoot up a storm when we take our first Alaska cruise later this year. Thanks for taking the time to write this report!

Enjoying your report! Taking a first cruise with DCL is probably the best mistake we ever made. I think it completely ruined us for other cruise lines! We're taking our first Alaska cruise in September, just me and DH. I can't wait! Oh, and I was born in Minnesota, so hey!

Yay for another Un-Disney family trip report! Rhubarb... it grew like weeds where I grew up, but here in Arizona, you can only find it once in a while at specialty grocery stores for something like $9 per pound. Ridiculous!

DH can't get enough of the fries from the quick service place on the pool deck. I adore the hunks of Parmesan cheese in Cove Cafe's antipasta selection. I'll gnaw on one of those while DH eats a basket of fries. :) Also the chocolate croissants in the MDRs at breakfast and the hash at Cabanas.

Even if you don't stay at the hotel (which can get pricey and doesn't have rooms for larger families), you can still book parking at the hotel. We've done that before, and it works great.

Yep. There are likely regular 7As left, just not the secret verandah ones. My TA said she's never seen it go quite this crazy. Apparently, on one Alaska cruise she called on (I don't know which sailing), there were no 11B rooms left at all. I find it hard to fathom!

And... just got a reply. Apparently all the secret verandah rooms are gone for ALL the Alaska sailings.
