Was not impressed with the San Diego port. As another poster mentioned, we had to wait outside in the sun, and there is NO place to sit if you have mobility issues. The boarding queues were not organized at all, and the experience left us starting our cruise in a VERY bad mood.

Following along. Getting on in San Diego when this cruise docks, for the 2 day Ensenada cruise. Needed one more cruise to reach Platinum.

I've been told that traffic from Phoenix to San Diego on a Friday can be brutal? Also, the same for the drive back on Sunday. Should we plan to arrive a day early?

Any recommendations on parking at the port?

Booked the 2 day Ensenada out of San Diego in March. I know this cruise will go by FAST, but trying the San Diego port for the first time, since we just moved to Arizona. Any info would be appreciated if you have taken the 2 day cruise or recently sailed out of San Diego. Thanks!

I personally don't recommend Ohana. Very overpriced for the food you get. 1900 has a much better selection of food on the buffet, while I believe that Ohana is Family Style.

I’m not sure I agree that’s the case of companies ridding their lower hour employees. If the high hour employee made WAY more money than the lower hour employee, guess which one would go, especially if they’re older.

Lay out everything you want to pack and then eliminate half of it. Jean shorts can be worn multiple days especially if you’re in a bathing suit all day. I’ll wear a T-shirt multiple times since I may only have it on a few hours a day (again, bathing suit all day). Kimono type wraps do double...

Have you looked into a satellite phone for phone access? Rentals are fairly inexpensive and would at least solve the no cell service problem.

I do not like Castaway Cay. On our next trip I'll be staying on the ship. Too much walking, too hot, don't like the sand. I'll be eating my lunch in the air conditioning at Cabanas. (Phew...feel better now that it's out there)
