Vero isn't far from palm beach airport. We actually flew into Palm beach one year to save ourselves over $300 in airfare and it was only a 3 hour drive to Orlando. So that airport may be another option for you and you can rent a car there.

I would have them request that before you go. It's never guaranteed but they will work with you and if you give them the information ahead of time you have a better shot at getting it rather than wait until check in. So yes I would request it now and specify it's due to a knee condition...

I think they should focus on an elevator for those people on the 3rd floor. We had th carry our bags up there and it was not fun. I was hunting around looking for the elevator and a nice man said to me "sorry there is none" I thought he was joking!
