    Car upgrade

I just picked a car at the Dollar lot this afternoon at the Orlando airport. There were only 5 or 6 spaces for Economy cars. I saw a Kia Soul, two Kia Forte's, a Ford Focus SEL, and a Mazda 2. While I'm not sure about the Mazda 2, the other cars are available with central locking in the U.S...

MVMCP Christmas Party - Who Goes Twice in Same Trip?

I went twice during my last visit in December 2008 and I'm going more than once this year. I love the parade -- I get an opportunity to see it from multiple locations.

    MVMCP 2011 Thread

In past years, MVMCP-specific merchandise was sold at the Emporium. I also found MVMCP t-shirts at the gift shop outside Pirates of the Caribbean. You might also want to check Uptown Jewelers (that's where I got my 40th anniversary t-shirt).

Toy Story Mania - Multiple times

I rode 5 times in one rainy morning this past spring. The last three times were walk-ons, essentially. "Hmmm, torrential rain in the forecast? Sounds like a great morning to ride TSM!"

    MVMCP 2011 Thread

In past years, the cookies have been frosted / sprinkled sugar cookies and the hot chocolate comparable to Swiss Miss. At least it keeps one warm on a chilly night. The lines for cookies & hot chocolate have not been that long. I'll be there on Dec 4, 6, and 7th.

First time in December...What do I need to know?

IMO, the lobby of the Grand Floridian has the best Christmas display -- a multi-story tree and the gingerbread house. Next is the Boardwalk -- usually a beach scene made of chocolate and a nice tree. I haven't experienced the Epcot Santas but I might this year. If you haven't seen...

How many days to "see" christmas?

I recommend splitting your itinerary into activites which can be done only at night (lights and fireworks) vs. any-time events. You could collapse this down to 4 days/nights. I usually do the hotel decoration tour during the day. To see all of those, that takes at least two afternoons to...

    12-day park hopper tickets

I don't know if you will have a car on your trip, but if you do, another bonus of the AP is free parking.

    Getting nervous...MVMCP crowds

I've been to MVMCP mid-week for the past few years. Mainly the biggest crowds have been along Main Street to watch the parades and fireworks show. Pirates of the Caribbean has been a walk-on, for example. The second parade is much less crowded. Last week I ordered my tickets for MVMCP on...

    Orange Bird T-shirt

Thanks for the update! I definitely will check out the blue mystery packs next time.

    Orange Bird T-shirt

I love the Orange bird too. Where did you find the set? I asked a cast member who had one to trade last week -- he said that they might be found in the "blue mystery packs" (?) at the pin store at DTD. Do they now sell the complete set? I'll be back in December and hope to find them then.

My videos from the 40th Anniversary (ceremony, fireworks, etc..)

I agree. Uptown Jewelers at 10am was mobbed. They should have stocked more 40th anniv t-shirts at the Emporium rather than bring them out of the backroom of Uptown Jewelers. I don't know what they were selling in the Diamond Horseshoe but the line wrapped 3 times at 10:30. The park...

    1-day park hopper OR MVMCP??

MVMCP, definitely. Do something else before 4pm, like DTD. The MVMCP is a lot of fun and gets you in the mood for Christmas.

*Official September 2011 Thread!* Who's joining me?!

I'm down to single digits. I'm spending an extra day at the end of the trip to go to the 40th anniversary.

What are favorite dining on I-Drive

Charlie's Steakhouse is nearby. A few blocks south of Jamaican Ct is the Pointe Orlando (at the intersection of International Dr and Universal Dr). My favorite is Copper Canyon Grille. Their specialty is rotisserie chicken (nicely seasoned). They have seating indoors and outdoors.

    1st time car hire advice.

You might try Thrifty if you're interested in a Dodge Charger. Of all of the rental agencies in the US, Thrifty carries the highest percentage of Chrysler products. I recommend not renting the compact or "standard" class car from Thrifty as you might get a Dodge Caliber or Dodge Avenger. The...

    Sheraton Vistana Villages directions to....

While I don't have any advice on getting to Universal in the morning to avoid traffic, I can recommend taking I-Drive south to 536, then westbound on 536 onto Disney property. From SVV, you may need to head north on I-Drive briefly to one of the U-turns then turn south. It may take a few...

    reviews of Sheraton Vistana Resort

When I was there last week, two of the buildings in the Cascades section were closed and their parking lots blocked off. They were replacing the roof. I don't know if they were also doing the interiors as well. They replaced the roof in the Springs section a few years before the major renovation.
