    Alaska Cruisers - need advice

Rain jackets. Don't go without them. The waterproof backpack was good too.

Suggestion for Holiday Gifts for Alaska Cruisers

Binoculars, memory card for the camera, and rainjackets. Don't leave home without any of these and don't wait until the last minute to get them!:thumbsup2

    Maximum disney visa reward dollars

I used $725 on our Alaska cruise. We had a party of 6, so that covered all the gratuities and still had some left for pictures and shopping!:thumbsup2

Geeks on a boat, now with more geeks! Literally. Alaska 2013 planning starts now!

Be very, very glad you found that Disney shuttle in Juneau. Alas, I did not. The 4 boys (ages 11-19, thankfully) and I walked uphill the entire way back to the ship. It might LOOK close, but it is NOT! Of course all of the boys beat me. In fact, my husband and our friends who chose to stay...

    Seattle & Vancouver Hotels

Flying into Vancouver was easy. Flying out of Vancouver was much more of a hassle. YMMV. We stayed at the Hampton Inn and Suites downtown by the Arena. Nice hotel and a good location. Short cab ride to Canada Place. I think we paid $220 per night and it was worth it. Not a fantastic deal...

Geeks on a boat, now with more geeks! Literally. Alaska 2013 planning starts now!

Ok - that is the final straw. You got all the good weather AND Mike Super! We were the week after you and missed all the good stuff. By the way, I was a levitating girl in Mike Super's show on the Dream, so I may be just a little partial. And no, I have absolutely no idea whatsoever how...

    White Pass Rail

We used Chilkoot Charters, took the train up to Fraser BC and took the shuttle back down. Great scenery, even with a lot of fog. I wouldn't want to do a longer trip, but this one was about the right length. We went early on the first train and were back in town by lunchtime. Chilkoot was...

    Recent harv and marv reviews?

We did Harv and Marv's the last week of June and had a great experience. We had a party of 10 and had the boat to ourselves, along with the captain and his assistant. They were very knowledgeable and we saw several whales and a couple of baby whales too. They did a great job finding them even...

    Alaska Excursions--post your reviews here!

That's a hard one, but I would not have given up the whale watching to go to Mendenhall glacier visitor center. No matter which glacier you see on the helicopter or float plane, you still got to see a glacier from a great view point, probably closer and better than you would see from Mendenhall...

    Vancouver:Capilano Suspension Bridge

We enjoyed it, but it was quite a bit of walking and several swinging bridges which are unsteady. My in-laws opted not to go with us and I felt that was a good decision as it would have been too hard on my father-in-law's bad knees.

    Beware harv n marvs

Yes, our tour was with Harv and Marv on June 28 and it was great. No problems at all, we had a party of 10 and had the boat to ourselves. Our guides were awesome. There was so much fog - he had to run on GPS and radar, but he found a clearing and we saw quite a few whales there - including a...

    Alaska Excursions--post your reviews here!

The Disney shuttle to the ship in Juneau was in the circle drop off right at the bottom of the Mt Roberts Tramway. That is where our excursion dropped us off - wish I had known to get on the Disney shuttle to get back to the ship! They were big tour buses with the Disney shuttle sign in the...

    Alaska Excursions--post your reviews here!

Another good recommendation for TEMSCO. We were booked in Skagway, but it was cancelled due to the weather. We were able to re-book for the next day in Juneau. It was awesome and so glad we didn't miss it. We did whale watching early on the Juneau day with Harv and Marv's and really...

    Beware harv n marvs

Sorry to hear you had trouble with your reservation and very glad it all worked out. We had a party of 10 and had the boat to ourselves. Our guides were very knowledgeable and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

    Two random Alaska cruise questions

We packed bug spray but never needed it. Maybe all the rain kept them away. We went to the mixology and the tequila/margarita tasting. Both were scheduled for 45 minutes, but lasted an hour. So don't schedule anything immediately afterward.

Geeks on a boat, now with more geeks! Literally. Alaska 2013 planning starts now!

Hi there! I replied to an earlier message of yours before we cruised. Seemed like we were doing everything just like you, only the week afterward. I love reading your posts and can't wait to read the rest of your TR. More importantly, please sign my name on your letter to YVR/United Airlines...

    Dining Rotations - Wonder

My only concern is missing the "show" in Animator's. I know they usually only do that on your first rotation in that restaurant. I booked Palo on the second night, so I hope my rotation does not have us in Animator's that night! :worried:

Can I check in DH if he is in another stateroom? Rental Car return

I was able to check in my DH when he was listed in a different stateroom with our kids. I was listed on a stateroom with my bro and sis-in-law. I got an extra key to my hubby and kids room and stayed with them, although they were connecting rooms and we had the door open between more often...
