How do I get the best deal?

My advice is to shop around. get quotes from several sources and go with the one you feel comfortable with. Some people prefer TA's and some don't. We booked directly through Disney and got the last week of Fall Fantasy last year. With the elimination of FF, my recommendation is book early. That...

Has anybody driven to the Kennedy Space Center?

I agree with KeenHo. We drove over to KSC on a Saturday and spent the whole day there. The key is to get there right when they open and be on one of the first buses for the tour. There are several stops along the way where you can get off and see all kinds of neat things. There's always another...

    Gratuity at Breakfast and Lunch

We were on the 12-8 Magic and I agree with your take on this subject. We only ate breakfast at a restaurant other than Topsiders once, and that was disembarkation morning. I often saw our server and assistant server working Topsiders during the day so I would assume the sit-down restaurants are...

Can you use Disney Dollars on Cruise?

The amount when they charge your card is $400.00. That is also the limit you can charge if you're going cash, check, or Disney Dollars. What I did on our 12-8 Magic cruise was to stop at Guest Services every day or so and get a printout of all our charges. It only takes a second and helps to...

    Help! First timer...

All sodas at dinner in the dining rooms are free. We got the refillable mug for my DD(11) on our 12-8 Magic cruise and she didn't use it enough to make it worth it. If your kids are crazy for soda, I would suggest the mug. Otherwise, I'd suggest passing on the mug.

Driving to port-leaving TV on car in summer

I would suggest you get a sun guard for your windshield (You can get one at Wal Mart. Everyone down here uses them.) and try to make sure the rest of your car is shaded too. Cars will get very hot in the summer here, and blocking the sunlight is the best thing you can do to keep it cooler. If...

Outbreak of Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease on the Wonder....

Maybe somebody needs to change the title of the thread here. It sounds so alarmist. Like Webmaster Michelle said, there is nothing on the ship that is making people sick except other sick people. When I lived up north, viruses, whether they were flu or others, spread very quickly, especially...

    sick

It's probably just the flu. It is that time of year and the cruise brings together hundreds of people from all over the country, so the chances are better that you'll be exposed to different strains of the flu. I wouldn't worry.

Advantages of pre-paying before 60 days?

The only reason I can see to pay early is if that'll keep you on your budget, especially if you're a long way out from your cruise date. Also maybe making several smaller payments would be psychologically less painful than making one large payment. I know writing that check for our 12-8-01 Magic...

    Made my final payment!

Way to go Pam! It's a great feeling to have made your last payment. Did they mention anything about sightseeing excursions in Cozumel? :)

    Palo's Dinner or Brunch

We were on the 12-8 Magic and I would say definitely do the dinner at Palo. You won't regret it. The best food on the ship. I would also recommend that you go there whichever night you are in Parrot Cay and it isn't a special menu night. That was my least favorite of the restaurants and seems to...

    Preference for Palo dinner

jiminyC_fan, Yes tropical night is the same night in all three restaurants (it's the evening you are in St. Martin, which is Tuesday). Pugdog007, We have an 11 year old and we had LAPLAPL, so don't be so sure which rotation you'll get. As far as the original question, we went on our...

    Drink Prices

NCRedding said: Drinks of the day ran in $3.50 to 4 range in a plastic cup. You can also get the drink of the day in the evening at one of the clubs in a glass glass if you prefer. We did that often because drinks taste so much better out of glass instead of plastic. :)...

Is using a travel agent necessary?

WebmasterCathyCanada, Yes, I know about the elimination of FF. I sailed on 12-8-2001 Magic, when they still had it and my DU quote didn't include it. The DCL website had the code and it was very easy to enter and get a quote. We paid $2,125.25 for day cat.11 for me, DW, and DD (11). True DU...

Is using a travel agent necessary?

We had just the opposite experience. When I got a quote for our 12-8 Magic cruise, the DCL website had the Fall Fantasy special listed, with the discount code and it was calculated immediately. But when I emailed DU for a quote, they did not include FF in the price, so were much higher. We...

How to get hold of your room steward?

We had the same experience, patches-4. Whenever I stopped by our room during the day, our stateroom hostess was almost always around somewhere in the halls. She was very accessible and also very nice and accomodating to requests. :)

Where to hang wet bathing suits

We also used the line over the tub. And when we forgot to hang them up, our stateroom hostess did it for us. You could also just throw them into the dryer in the laundry room for 20 minutes. We were in 7625 (Cat.11, deck 7, aft) and were just down the hall from the laundry, which made it...

    Planning a cruise for 2003

We thought about that week and decided against it because the crowds and price. We got a much better deal last on the 12-8 Magic, plus there were only about 1900 passengers onboard. So, we'll likely be going the same time in 2003 on the western itinerary. I can't wait! :)

So, how did you get YOUR cruise fix while the DIS boards were 'down'?

I just sat back and watched the DCL portion of our Disney screen saver or looked at our pictures from our 12-8 Magic cruise. I even set my wallpaper on my computer at work as a photo of the Magic at sea, taken from the sreen saver we got onboard. :)

    Teen spa times?

We were on the 12-8 Magic and I think that the spa was "18 and over" only. I got the rainforest package for the entire week and I can tell you for sure there was no time in the rainforest room set aside for teens. Sorry. :)
