A question about trip insurance...not sure where to post!

My suggestion would be to look at the fine print of any trip insurance policy you are considering to see what's covered and what's not.

AKL: Help me eliminate 2 negatives!

AKL is amazing. It was truly a one-of-a-kind experience, and I highly recommend it. If you are used to staying at resorts near Epcot, then you may find the transportation from AKL to be a wee bit longer, but it took us no longer than 15-25 minutes to get to most of the parks. It helped that...

Need Help. Planning Daughters Surprise Honeymoon.

What a great gift! Just my two cents, but if the trip is a complete surprise to them, as in "you're going on a honeymoon and you're leaving tomorrow" kind of thing, then you might want to consider making the dining reservations for them (up to 180 days in advance). It can be difficult to "wing...

Is the dining plan worth the money?

This is pretty much what it boiled down to for us. We were flying in from out of state, staying in a hotel room (as opposed to a condo), so our meals were going to come from Disney. We did the QSDP, and it provided us with peace of mind and a lot of 'extras'. I did the math, and if we had...

...for those that have done the QSDP

We were on the QSDP for 8 nights and we never went hungry. We only had one meal out of pocket! When we decided to go with the QSDP, especially for 8 nights, I thought we'd have to supplement a lot more than we did. Hubby is a big eater, too.

worth it to do dining plan?

I don't think this is possible - if you are on the same reservation, I think you all have to purchase the plan (AND be on the same plan), or none of you can purchase it.

Refillable mugs, do you take them to the parks?

We did not bring our refillable mugs to the parks. It was just something else to have to carry. We used them in the resort (AKL) and by the pool. We were on the quick service dining plan, so if we had dinner at our hotel, we would use the refillable mugs for our beverage. Since our meal came...

worth it to do dining plan?

We did the QSDP last January and loved it - I would do it again. I liked having the food paid for in advance. We probably would have eaten a little differently if we were paying OOP for everything, but it was nice to have some 'extras' like snacks, beverages, and desserts (again, we might not...

    AKL and the villas there

We had a savannah view last year, although I don't remember which savannah we were overlooking (uzima, I think), but there were always animals. We even saw giraffes mating one night. (Told the kids they were playing 'leapfrog'.) :lmao:

What age to let kids have unsupervised time in parks?

At what age would you be comfortable letting your child(ren) hang out in the parks without adult supervision? For example, if the kids wanted to go do 'this' while the adults went and did 'that,' or just letting them loose for a few hours, but setting a time to meet back up later, etc. What's...

CS Credit at Mara, AKL? How does this work?

When we were at AKL, we got waffles using a CS credit. Seems to me it came in 'platter' form, but I can't remember exactly. Perhaps you can ask for an extra 'this' in place of 'that' if you don't like everything that comes on the platter. The worst they can do is say no, and you have to pay...

    counter service question

We used snack credits for breakfast-y items. A container of cereal and a little container of milk (both together) = one snack credit. Things like pastries, fruit, yogurt, those were all one snack credit as well. If we used a CS credit for breakfast (which we did a couple of times), we got the...

QSDP and 9 year old question

If you think he'll be okay with some of the kid's meal selections, but not all of them, you could always pay out of pocket for an adult's meal once in a while. Or use the kid's meals for breakfast.

    Animal Kingdom Lodge?

Reviews are subjective and based on that person's unique experience and expectations. Until we know specifically what you're worried about or what's jumping out at you when you read these reviews, it's hard to address your concerns and answer any specific questions you have about the property...

    QSDP worth it?

We got the QSDP this past January and I think we definitely got our money's worth. I compared the cost of the plan with the total cost of the food we ate, and we came out ahead by purchasing the plan. That said, if we weren't on the plan, we might have made different choices when ordering our...

I don't know what to do...AKL OR VALUE RESORT?

The AKL is amazing, but I would probably stick with a value resort for that one night because you won't be spending much time at the hotel.

How much stock do you place in reviews?

Like Nolanboys, I take the reviews with a grain of salt. I weed out the ones where the person has a negative experience related to a specific and isolated complaint. I look for an overall 'theme' with the reviews, and pay attention to comments about things that are important to me, especially...

    QSDP with older kids?

My daughter was 9 when we went and she got a little tired of the kid's meal selections. I know a few times she would have preferred an adult's QS meal. My suggestion would be to let them get an adult's meal now and then for something more substantial, and more variety. You might have to pay...

Planning February 2011 Vacation at AKL...Help!

We stayed at AKL on our trip in January and LOVED it. Well worth it, in my opinion. It's a beautiful resort, and very unique. I don't know about the 1-bedrooms, but we stayed in a regular room with a savannah view and it was great. The room wasn't huge, but we certainly had enough space...
