For anyone who thinks that they can use this board to fight a personal battle...

I agree too Cathy. I made a simple observation based on posts on the thread, that observation was somehow construed as a personal attack, and it went downhill from there. PMs can be a good way to handle it, assuming the person doesn't lock out their PMs in order to hide.

Dang, I thought that maybe that was when the batteries would run out on the seizure-inducing cat collar.

pet peeve IRL and on the DIS

I know what you're saying caity, and you KNOW that I understand how you're feeling. Every person has to do what is best for him or her in dealing with this. I find that I sometimes NEED to see the more graphic stuff in order to stiffen my resolve.

President Bush's Speech to the UN

It's being left up to the UN - make him comply or we will. Straightforward and to the point, not much room for conjecture or guessing.

    Inappropriate tribute

I'm with you!! Does it hurt? Sure does. I left for work with makeup on yesterday morning. By 0830, I went to the restroom to take off what little was left after crying a river in my office with the door closed. But I feel a very real need to remember those feelings, and to feel them...

    Milesource update problems

Our zip code changed recently, and I tried to change it on the Milesource site. I have points to redeem, but I don't want to do it until I change the address. It won't change it!! I e-mailed customer service, and was told that I was doing it wrong, to not leave any fields blank. I did...

Inspired by CaityCaity: What is "the city" to you?

DC is small in area, but boy, are the people packed in tight!!! The thing with DC is that it can't expand in size - city limits are determined by law, so it can't expand and annex the surrounding areas.

Look at the bright side Edina - at least the school didn't make them eat PB&J sandwiches! But I agree, $3.00/day seems high to me.

From where do you get your information? You list a quote, but don't give the source, unless it is from the Hitler source you linked to.

Outside of that area, I doubt that they really do.

Inspired by CaityCaity: What is "the city" to you?

That makes perfect sense to me. What doesn't make sense to me is the assumption that someone that lives 2000 miles away would also think of NYC when someone mentions "the city".

Inspired by CaityCaity: What is "the city" to you?

Even post-9/11. When someone uses the term "the city", I associate it with the nearest city, which isn't NYC in my case. I've never heard anyone in this area refer to NYC as "the city". When people here talk about NYC, they tend to say "New York" or "New York City".

Inspired by CaityCaity: What is "the city" to you?

Living here, if someone says "the city", I naturally think of DC. When I lived in Alabama, and someone said "the city", I said "What city?". When I lived in Florida and someone said "the city", I would think of Tampa. Hard as it may be to believe those that believe the sun rises and...

    Would You Have Paid?

I had a similar thing happen ages ago. I had a bunch of diapers on the bottom of the cart, and the cashier didn't see them. I shop for one month at a time, so the bill was big and I didn't notice it until I got home and I was checking the receipt. I took one bag back and told them how many I...

    Allowance

Our kids get a small allowance, since we pay for all of their needs. We don't mandate that they save a certain amount, but they know that if they don't, then they can't buy the little extras that they want. DS (now 6) decided a few months ago that he wanted a Lego set that cost $39. He saved...
