May 28, 2011 - 11 Night Mediterranean Sailing from Barcelona

We fly out of Phila on Tuesday, too! Maybe we'll see you. We're a party of 9 with a guy in a wheelchair. 4 more days!

Yes, they sure are incorrect. Just got off the phone with DCL. The times in the cruise documents are the correct ones.

May 28, 2011 - 11 Night Mediterranean Sailing from Barcelona

This is confusing because it's different than the cruise documents. If you read through this entire thread, you will see that there was a point that the DCL website itinerary had the days switched for a couple of ports, then fixed it. Have the times ever been correct since that point? I was...

May 28, 2011 - 11 Night Mediterranean Sailing from Barcelona

Can't believe I haven't checked this board in SO long. Took me an entire day to catch up! It's hard to believe it's almost here. We're staying at the Grand Hotel Central. Arriving in Barcelona on 6/25. No definite plans except we want to see Sagrada Familia and hopefully the Gothic Quarter...

    Tunis information....

Thanks for the Info! That sounds like a very good situation with the taxis. I hate the idea of haggling. We are going on the 5/28/11 Med Cruise and are really looking forward to Tunis. If you can remember, I have a question. In your observation of the taxis, did there appear to be any...

    Which deck to pick?

Aft is the direction towards the back of the ship. Check out the nautical terms, I think it's in the sticky posts. I just booked my first cruise, but as I understand it, you're only likely to get motion sick on a ship in rough weather, generally these ships are very stable motion-wise. But...

May 28, 2011 - 11 Night Mediterranean Sailing from Barcelona

I just booked this cruise! There are going to be at least 9 of us, maybe 10, in 4 staterooms. For everyone except my daughter this is our first cruise. We are still in the research mode. With such a large group, I doubt we will all be doing the same things every day. My biggest challenge...

Anyone in WC done DCL Med/Europe?

Thanks again! Yes. The manual is quite entertaining. I'm sure it was written by lawyers. Especially the part that says not to sit in the chair when it is in a motor vehicle. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. So he drives it on a bus on his own, he can't stand or walk, but has to get out of it while...

Anyone in WC done DCL Med/Europe?

Thanks so much! I have registered on the Cruise Critic boards so I can post there, but I'm reading up on things first to get a feel for all this first. It's a great resource. (just like the DIS!) I believe we will be investigating setting up our own excursions anyway. I have discussed your...

Anyone in WC done DCL Med/Europe?

Thanks! That's a couple of good leads to start looking at. I also posted on the DCL boards here. We can get him in a manual chair but he's really not comfortable for any length of time and I believe this trip is going to test his endurance to begin with. But you have me thinking it...

Med Cruise with a power wheelchair?

Does anyone have any experience traveling with a power wheelchair on the Med Cruise? Jack, my friend that I take care of, wants to do the Med cruise and I'm researching as much information as I can before we book. I know there are two ports which are tendered that would be off limits for...

Anyone in WC done DCL Med/Europe?

Hi Disabilities Board friends! It's been a while since I posted, but once again another trip is in the works for my friend Jack. His last major trip was in May 09 and he's itchy to start planning something else. He would like to try the Disney European cruise in the Med. Has anyone with...

    company to transport my scooter???

Sounds fishy to me. You know if you were confined to that chair they would have to accomodate it. I send Jack to NYC about once a year on his power wheelchair on Amtrak from Philadelphia to NYC and they deal. (He goes all on his lonesome...even with his speech deficits) All I do is set up the...

Has anyone taken a Permobil C350 Corpus Power Chair to WDW?

Jack has a C300 with Corpus Seating. He rode Magical Express to and from Orlando Airport. He also was able to take the chair on It's a small world, The Great Movie Ride, Jungle Cruise, The Land, The three caballeros. (Those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.) We also did...

    Tomato help

My favorite saying in the summer. When life gives you lemons make lemonade..when life gives you tomatos, make salsa! Salsa: Tomatoes, Onions, hot peppers (just a little) Lime juice, tons of garlic and a little salt to taste. I vary the proportions based on my mood. A little can tomato paste...

    Retirement/annuity questions

It's really best to decide this on a case by case basis. Don't let anyone tell you that because some celebrity financial person doesn't like annuities that they are all bad. We have money in one and it's an awesome deal that increases the income base regularly with a bonus if you don't need...

    In need of new washer/dryer

I replaced both my washer and dryer last year with Frigidaire front loader washer and stackable dryer. They were listed as best buy in Consumer Reports and the pair cost me about $700 from Lowes. I knew the washer would save on water,(used about 1/4 to 1/3 of what my old one did) but I was...

    Cookware for glass top stove

I've had my flat top for a little over a year. I read the entire manual online before I decided on it, mostly because I have to have electric and I wanted the double oven and I hate cleaning stoves. It's a GE Profile and I needed to make sure I could still use my pressure cookers on the flat...

    Medical Beds

We used CARE Medical for a trip in February. They were great. Housekeeping removes one of the beds and the service delivers and sets up the hospital bed. And the cost was surprisingly reasonable, too.
