Has the biggest loser gone too far?

This isn't surprising. It's only surprising that it's taken until NOW for it to happen. I'm amazed that they haven't actually killed someone on that show yet. Bob and Jillian can wear whatever shocked expressions they want; they're part of it. THEY are more than happy to berate the...

    Amanda Knox found guilty.

Thanks to everyone for clearing up the DNA thing! That makes sense.

    Amanda Knox found guilty.

Veering a little OT here, but what is the bolded referring to? Genuinely curious. A jury trial system has been in place in England and Wales for centuries and is what the first jury trial system in the US was based on. In the modern UK legal system an 'innocent until proven guilty model' is used.

    Amanda Knox found guilty.

I've been wondering about this (not picking on you EMom - your post is just the most recent that mentions this! - the question is to everyone in general). I haven't looked into this case much (and I have no opinion either way of Knox's guilt/innocence), but this point keeps coming up - the lack...

Universal Health Care - JSYK: UPDATE Last Page

I live in the UK. Yes, I love the NHS. The only times I have ever had to wait for treatment was when there was no emergency/time crunch. Same for everyone I know. When something like cancer is suspected (i.e. when time is of the essence) you're seen ASAP. All contraception is free. All...

Future SIL hurt my feelings! *rant* (update post #272)

What you should have told her is that your body is none of her concern. She doesn't get to dictate your size/weight/shape no matter what.

    Baby Veronica is going home!!!!

Actually you're the only one I've seen making these hyperbolic predictions/comments. Feel free to correct me on all of the following but, apart from you, as far as I can see no one has said the whole town will hate them or that Veronica will be teased at all, let alone relentlessly. No one has...

    Baby Veronica is going home!!!!

Nice hyperbole. The teenage years can be difficult, people gossip and the information is out there. It's not a stretch to think the Capobianco's may have some difficult times with Veronica ahead due to their actions. You're right that she may not remember, but based on my own experience I'd...

    Baby Veronica is going home!!!!

I have memories from before the age of four - and some pretty crystal clear memories at that. Personally traumatic things (and being removed from your family certainly counts as traumatic) can act as flashbulb memories. I never said anything about four year olds talking about it in 25 years...

    Baby Veronica is going home!!!!

They are truly deluded if they think this will end well. Teenagers can be hard work and don't need an excuse to be angry with their parents. Veronica will have a tonne of real reasons to be angry with these two, and at 4 years old she will have already formed long term memories of her time with...

    Replacement for GAC

I've seen it, but only once and back in 1998/99. It was probably an anomaly, and to be honest I'm not entirely sure they were actually all together. I think some people saw the family getting on the bus first and decided to try their luck - and succeeded!

Disney World to change ride access program for disabled

I don't think GAC/DAS is intended for personal hang-ups. I'm incredibly uncomfortable with both crowds and physical contact (including with family/friends) but I wouldn't get a GAC/DAS for it. It's not a disability.

Is This How We Really Want to Remember Our Fallen?

Some of the outrage is a few years late anyway - the guy started running the promotion two years ago: http://news.sky.com/story/1139978/golf-ad-commemorating-9-11-sparks-outrage

When You're Out Driving, Do You?

I make an effort to stay at the limit regardless of other drivers (although I'm far from perfect in this!). I'm not purposefully risking a fine and points on my license because someone else didn't make an effort to leave on time.

Question for all those not living in the US...

I'm in the UK. Civil partnerships are currently being replaced with same sex marriage. Obviously some people are against it, but the overwhelming feeling seems to be one of positivity. It's not the big controversial thing that it seems to be in some parts of the US. Same goes for some other...

    One for the books

I don't know if I've just become more sensitive to it but I agree with the bolded. Every time I've gone on a dark ride over the past couple of trips I've been bracing myself for the flash photography. I really wish Disney would do something about it (although I'm not sure what the appropriate...

Not doing DDP mainly because I hate leaving large tips.

Correction: what you think top waiting staff earn. Your calculations may not reflect reality. Plenty of people make more money than medics. And medics in turn make more than the scientists actually working on new treatments and the scientists who actually carry out the testing on patient samples...
