    Noting celebrations on reservations?

Before online booking became a thing and we still had to call Disney to make dining reservations, the cast members would always ask if you were celebrating anything on your trip when you called in. They'd make note of it on dining and hotel reservations, and sometimes cast members would sprinkle...

    July 2022 Car Rental Thread

Check those rental car rates! My Thrifty rental direct off their website has dropped about $50 the past week or two!

    Pilot Shortages

The FAA regulates it. About 10 years ago they raised the mandatory retirement age from 60 to 65. I think there's a bill proposing to bump it up to 68, so the pilot unions are feeling out their members to see what they think. Some older captains would like to work longer, some first officers...

    June 2022 car rental

You might check Thrifty directly. The rate for my full size for June 1-8 dropped about $50 this week. Plus they have a Blue Chip program that lets you skip the counter.

    Pilot Shortages

My husband is a pilot for Southwest. Right now the company is in talks with the union about extending the mandatory retirement age by a few years. The pilot shortage is definitely playing into the problem. I know Southwest is hiring and training new pilots as fast as they possibly can.

Can you book ILL and VQ for the same ride?

We're planning on being in Epcot in early June and I'm working out our strategy to get on Guardians. Can one member of our party try to get an ILL and at the same time someone else is trying to book us in the virtual queue? Can you get both on the same day? Will the system kick you off if you try?

Online Check-in White Screen of Doom

Help! For the past week I've been trying to complete my online check-in on the My Disney Experience website. I can see the reservation, but when I click on "Start Check-in Now" it takes me to a white screen and nothing freezes. Anyone else have this issue? Tips? Can I call guest services and...

    Socially Distant Transportation to MK

They are staggering park opening times, so I'm guessing more buses will be able to service each park, allowing fewer passengers per bus without increasing wait times extraordinarily. We'll be driving our rental car as much as possible, but I'm guessing we'll take our chances on a bus to MK.

American Airlines now has 737 Max 8s starting in November in their schedule

My husband is a pilot for Southwest. The Max's are currently off the schedule until January. Frankly, once those planes are back in the air they will likely be the safest plane you could fly on. The reason their return to service has been so delayed is that they have been going over everything...

    November 2019 car rental watch

Still on the hunt for a better deal. So far I've got a compact for Nov 21-28 through car rental savers for $330. That's double what I've paid in the past, but I'm guessing Thanksgiving is raising prices. Happy hunting everyone!

    Viking Ship Adrift

I'm with you! My husband was also Air Force and flew bombers and was a T6 and T38 instructor. No way am I getting into a helicopter, or small plane for that matter. I have complete trust in pilots, and logically know flying is safer than driving, but my irrational fear says NOPE!

Southwest flights sold out after only 1 day schedule open??

My husband flies for Southwest, and my understanding of it is they are currently reshuffling their schedule a bit, so the website might look a bit funky. However, the Max 8 only makes up about 5% of their total fleet, so it shouldn't have huge, lasting impacts if it stays out of the air for a...

Which is more crowded, Weekend after Columbus Day or Thanksgiving?

With Galaxy's Edge opening this year all bets are off! It's going to be crazy no matter what I imagine!

    Alaskan Cruise- transportation advice

Interested in seeing if anyone else chimes in that has done this! We're doing the 5 night Alaskan this summer, flying into and out of Seattle. My original plan was to take the train at least one way for the views. However, the train only departs around 7am (way before our flight), or 7pm (which...

    For us... forward or aft?

I voted mid aft. I've only stayed forward and mid-ship, though! We usually stay on deck 7 (I like a buffer of rooms between me and deck/restaurant noise). The last time we were forward we were REALLY far forward. The ship ran into some unexpected weather and high seas. It got so bad the captain...

    Palo Brunch question

We did a 3 night cruise last October with the same itinerary. They had brunch on the Nassau day, which worked perfect for us since we weren't getting off the ship there anyway!

    Halloween costumes?

My husband and son are big Broncos fans, so my son went as a player (team jersey and eye black), my husband was the coach (team shirt, hat, whistle and clipboard), my oldest son was a referee (whistle, hat, striped shirt), and I was a fan (face paint, shirt, crazy socks). Easy to pack and rewear...

Is it easy to get in on a mixology class when you get onboard ship?

On our last cruise I had forgotten about signing up for mixology in advance. By the time I remembered all the slots were full. We had no trouble booking onboard after we had eaten lunch (maybe around 1pm). The class we wound up in wasn't even at the times listed online, so I guess they offer...

    June 2018 Car rental thread

True, it is. I did see, however, that you can get a free 6 month membership on their website. So if you're worried about using the code, that may be a "legal" way to do it. https://www.aopa.org/membership
