    Customs and connecting flight (hypothetical)

Schipol has been far worse than CDG lately. The important thing to understand is what happens in one airport might not happen in another. Take TSA. In CLT everything needs to go into a bin. At MCO, nothing goes into a bin except electronics and other small items. If you don't fly a LOT...

    Customs and connecting flight (hypothetical)

This is not a scenario that trip interruption will cover. It is travel delay. There is a big difference. For example, most airline affinity cards do not cover travel delay. Those that do (including CSR) typically provide secondary coverage. Interesting to note, different cards have...

How do you plan for the potential of a bad weather cancelled flight?

This time of the year, "cheap flight" doesn't enter the picture. You could either buy fully refundable tickets, or you could buy new tickets with a carrier that will allow you to cancel and bank your travel credit for a year. We could probably offer better advice if we knew where you were...

    Gaylord/Epcot/Amway Center

Sunrail doesn't run on weekends or holidays. Additionally, the last train leaves downtown Orlando headed south at around 9:00 pm. Sunrail could be an option to get to the Amway Arena, but it will not work on the return. It is impossible to get a ride share from the arena side of I-4 after a...

pros and cons which flight to take

A couple more things to consider: If there is a weather event that cancels your flight, the seats on the "next available flight" will be more plentiful earlier in the day over the domino effect that will happen as the day progresses and more and more flights are cancelled. The folks on the...

    Customs and connecting flight (hypothetical)

Do not ever plan on going to the front of the line at passport control. In many countries they will laugh and send you to the back of the line. Your husband was almost definitely “in transit” which only requires a cursory passport check. It is not the same process a passport control for...

    Customs and connecting flight (hypothetical)

CBP is now integrating new kiosks with facial recognition for Global Entry holders. Nothing to do except have your face scanned. You don’t even have to show your passport. They are integrating something similar for all US passport holders, but it isn’t in place except at one or two test...

    Customs and connecting flight (hypothetical)

First of all, Customs is a walk-through. It is passport control (immigration) that can be a long wait (or very short) depending on many possible scenarios. Passport Control is where you need to show your passport (or possibly just have your face scanned depending on the airport, your country...

Cooking for 50 teens - portions

Boys that age eat massive amounts of food. Our son just turned 13 and can eat a pound of meat plus sides and dessert in a single meat. He eats as much as my husband and I combined. I'd suggest you add rice to the menu. Chop up cilantro and add in some lime juice and it will taste like...

    Hilton Gold Status free breakfast

My husband is Hilton Gold and the terms and conditions state that it is only for two people. Some properties will allow our child as well, but we never count on it, and often we are charged for him.

    SW airlines- flying with child

TSA has ZERO authority to request this type of documentation. As other posters have mentioned, unless it is an international flight, no documentation at all is required or will be asked for.

    uber/car seat

Not true in Florida. For hire or privately owned are not differentiated as far as child safety restraints go.

Orlando Airport Security Screening last weekend - getting worse not better

The highly trained college grads, unlike the GED toting TSA. I put my life in the hands of a pilot. I mock the TSA. They have yet to prove their worth.

    Non-Park family attraction ideas

Another vote for Orlando Science Center--plus it's indoors so a great rainy day diversion. You could rent bicycles and cycle all or part of the West Orange Trail.

Orlando Airport Security Screening last weekend - getting worse not better

I ran into a similar situation in BTV. They were taking a solid five minutes with each person. Everyone got a pat down. Then when we got to the gate before boarding, everyone got wanded and all carry on luggage searched by hand again. They wouldn't let people on the plane until they went...

SW- What's the likelihood of us not sitting together?

Agree with the others. Boarding would have been delayed, because I would have taken two seats and not moved.

Orlando Airport Security Screening last weekend - getting worse not better

I agree that check in times will vary by time and carrier. Also bad weather in other parts of the country can affect flights, and cause all sorts of check in delays. I still stand that LHR has some of the longest check in times in the world regardless of carrier.

    Rental car or Uber?

There is no guarantee that it will as there is no guarantee that it won't. The last three times I've used Uber in the LBV/Dr. Phillips area I've paid surge pricing.

Orlando Airport Security Screening last weekend - getting worse not better

I've flown in and out of Orlando many times, probably 20+ at this point. The length of lines to check in greatly depends on the time of day and carrier. The longest lines I've ever seen anywhere were at LHR around 8:00 am on a Sunday. Simply insane at around 90 minutes for security. The...

    Rental car or Uber?

Keep in mind that surge pricing can totally screw up any savings with Uber. I use them regularly, but in your case I'd be looking to rent a car.
