I love this thread because I love reading and I love Disney!
Instead of concentrating on ride photos, I would try to get Entertainment involved... I think the characters would really get into this. What about reading Alice in Wonderland with Alice, or reading just about anything with Belle...
I have seen all sorts of princess dresses frolicking through the parks, and the bulk of the dresses do not seem to hold the girls back! :) I have also seen the cute, lightweight Disney nightgowns being worn throughout the park - the ones that are princess-y and don't really look like nightgowns...
Here's a link to a blog post I recently stumbled across that has a great compilation of advent calendar tutorials: http://keepsmeoutofmischief.wordpress.com/2011/10/14/five-things-advent-calendars
I'm sure there is a way to Disney-fy them with cute Disney fabrics, etc!
You can always have Minnie sign a blank t-shirt, and then print the photo on iron-on transfer paper, and add the photo afterwards. If you stretch the shirt in an embroidery hoop, Minnie will be able to sign exactly where you want her to - so you can work around where you want the photo to be...
I LOVE your dress so far and I'm incredibly jealous! I think you should carry a frying pan... LOL!
Please keep us updated on your progress as you work on the costume. I would love to see the final look.
There's nothing I love more than the marriage of Disney+sewing!
Etsy is a site for selling crafts and craft supplies, and sort of works like eBay where you pay a tiny fee to post your items. It's addicting to both shop and sell! Some of the talent out there is really inspiring.
I have a shop and have sold a few items while experimenting with the site...
Aw, if only you were in inquiring about Mike Wazowski! I made a fun Mike costume last year from a pumpkin pattern. :)
Not so sure about Sully... the first step would definitely be visiting your fabric store and taking a look around. Unless you want to try something outside-the-box, like furry...
My immediate thoughts:
Tin foil for the base...
Reflective tape, glow paint, glow sticks (the necklace/bracelet kind they sell in the dollar store), or some sort of metallic paper for the rest of it?
Also, Mad Libs would be age appropriate for both a 10 year old and 5 year old - also mildly educational and a fun group game in the car! Only one person has to read the requested word categories and everyone else can chime in with suggestions - and then everyone will have fun listening to the...
I always try to stand in or around Norway and China - usually in between the two is a good bet. I rarely have wind/smoke problems in that area, but almost always have wind/smoke problems on the Canada side. Just my experience, though!
I have only seen the cowboy scene once - the gangster scene about ten times. Like others said, it's rare, but you're more likely to see it during high capacity times (summer, holidays, etc)
My dream is to make Giselle's blue curtain dress by then, but I'm not sure my sewing skills will be at that level in the next six months! That may have to be postponed until MNSSHP 2012, LOL.
I use the free version of the RunKeeper app regularly when I run. I'm not sure if I'd use it all day in the parks though - keeping the GPS constantly running drains the battery SUPER fast. I don't think it would ever last a day in the park - at least on my phone!
