Help for AK plan - do we really need to see all 3 of these?

The Discovery Island trials are often overlooked, but would be a good addition to your plan. Lots of small animal viewing and a close encounter with the Tree of Life.

Disney on New Years. Is it worth it?

Yes! It's worth it as long as you understand it is not an ordinary day at the parks. I would tell you to take a pass if your goal is to see a lot of attractions - it's the commando's worst nightmare. However, some things happen on NYE that you don't otherwise get to do. In epcot, people set up...

Highly recommend the Epcot After Hours Wind Down!

As I understand it, the check-in locations are at each of the participating restaurants. I can see how you could be asked to leave the restaurant, but not how you could be asked to leave the World Showcase. I don't mean to be a pain here, but does anyone know whether the convenience food vendors...

Highly recommend the Epcot After Hours Wind Down!

I'll admit that it has been a few years since I was last at epcot, but I recall frequently lingering after Illuminations without any special event to attend. Usually our lingering would also involve eating something light like funnel cake and coffee while sitting in a courtyard like Italy's. On...

    Poncho or Rain coat?

For us, the act of buying a WDW poncho actually prevents the rain from falling that day (3 hr maximum effect). Try it! The downside is that now we have a poncho "collection." So far we have yellow, red, blue and transparent.

    Illuminations question.

If I was staying overnight in Epcot, I would need the following: 1. The location of the "on" button for Illuminations. 2. Keys to one of the Friendship boats. 3. Instructions for connecting my iPod to the Fountain of Nations. 4. Funnel cake ingredients.

    Illuminations question.

No matter how much we beg.

    Thoughts/observations from last week's trip

We have found the boat crews on the MK to GF shuttle to be great too. Once, we got a close up view (very close up) of the Electrical Water Pageant on one of these trips. Just curious though, did you know about this before getting on the boat? Did they ask the passengers if anyone was in a hurry...

Cant remember World Showcase very well...

Years ago we were the host family for a foreign exchange student from Sweden. We took him to WDW and the WS in particular. When he toured the Norway pavilion with us, he pointed out several things that he contended were actually Swedish rather than Norwegian.

Where to meet the Seven Dwarfs?

In Epcot, we have seen all of them together at the Germany pavillion.

Not sure where to post this...

I have played the 9-hole course (Oak Trail) during a visit to WDW. The important thing for golfers to know is that it is NOT an "executive course." It's nine challenging, well maintained holes of golf. Quite enjoyable and worth the price. There are a variety of ways to get discounts as well. For...

    Driving at WDW

::yes:: I have lived my entire life within 100 miles of Chicago, where people know how to organize traffic. Dont get me started on the heat, or the pizza. Now get off my lawn you troublemaker.

    Driving at WDW

Well I must be the exception becasue I don't think it's all that easy to drive around the World. Yes, there are very large and colorful signs with lots of information on them, but sometimes that is not enough (for me). It's not as if there are no distractions. And if you miss your "exit" ...

Can you help me with my commando nature?

No park map. No guidebook. No watch. No cell phone. Go!

Off Kilter fans (you know you're one)

Love them. I will be singing a round of Whiskey in the Jar and having a shot of Glenmorangie (10 yr) on July 1 in their honor. (Oh whiskey you're the devil. You're leading me astray ...)

Going in early December... is it too cold to swim in the evening?

However, if you WERE used to arctic conditions, WDW resorts would let you swim. We were there in late Dec. 2010 and the Poly pools were open almost every night - and kids swam in them every night.

ADR : I think I went overboard! HELP!

Personally, I don't experience the entertainment oriented meals (CRT, Ohana) as restful. Rest requires more than getting off my feet. I also need to rest my nerves by getting a little distance from the stimulation of the parks. The 25 year old me would be cheering you on. But the 50 year old me...

Sell me on the American Pavilion

While the Voices of Liberty give a fine performance, I think of their presence at the AP as a missed opportunity. It seems like the (incredibly rich) history of American folk music deserves better treatment than it gets from their playlist.

Is there a way to learn crowd level of park that day

I use m.disneyworld.com. No app required. All the info I need.

Give it to me straight -- crowds at Christmas

Cruise ships and port cities are also crowded at Christmas and New Years. If you're OK with those crowds, you'll be OK at WDW too. We did this combo several years ago. Based on the cruise itinerary we selected, we ended up at WDW starting Jan 2nd. All the Christmas and New Years decorations...
