What's the longest road trip you've ever been on?

I love road trips-but I think the keys is not to drive 10hrs a day. Our deal is that we never drive more than 6hrs a day and we visit at least one attraction each day. It doesn't have to be a major attraction but we have to do or see something each day.

Survivor 29 *Finale tonight! Dec 17*

I thought it was supposed to be all new players? Maybe I mis-read.

Is my Dentist Ripping me off?

I'd never consider comparing insurance plans without considering their total cost. Usually (but not always) you pay more for better coverage. I was really replying to the poster that said there was no good dental coverage in the US or the ones who say Delta Dental is always bad coverage. I'll...

Is my Dentist Ripping me off?

I'm sure they do :) we have great benefits at my company, they actually pay 100% of my medical and I pay for my family. The dental is extra but very low cost.

Is my Dentist Ripping me off?

Just wanted to add that yes there are dental insurances in the US that pay well. We have Delta Dental but apparently a much different plan than some. Filling on average run us $25-$30 each, my newest crown was $358 total OOP. I have 3 more filling to do and was quoted $79 for them when I go...

    Are you a good swimmer

I'm a good swimmer-I grew up on the coast and swim for fun in pools, lakes and oceans ect..I don't remember learning to swim since I started at 6 months old :). I love the water and while I don't have the endurance that I used too I can float/tread water for a loooong time.

    let's talk suitcases

I travel weekly for work and I love the Ogio bags:thumbsup2 they are not cheap but not really expensive either. They hold a ton of stuff for their size and have stood up to weekly airplane trips. I especially like the different zippered compartments and that they expand, so if I start out with...

Survivor *Cagayan* BvBvB Next Wed 2/26!

I hate Cass-I can't figure out why she enjoys Spencer's difficulties? I'm a woman a and I think she is a man hater. She thinks she's such a smart prosecutor but wait till she watches herself in this game. Total B$&%* I'm guessing a bad college experience since she fixates on that age male...

Those with HS kids that do not have a p/t job..

I have fairly strong feelings about this because my mother (single mother) made me get a job as soon as I turned 16 and I've fully supported myself since I was 17 (rent, food, clothes ect..) I naturally focused on the 40hr work week instead of school. My children will not work during the...

    Teacher's advice on missing school

Wow any truancy court requests would result in us homeschooling our kids for the semester. Enjoy no money then. Thankfully CA has "independent study" as an option. I'm sorry but we do and will continue to pull our kids for vacations. Next year they will miss the first day or two of school...

What does affordable mean to him? For just one person or a family?

    Do you avoid GMO's?

Here is my issue with Mobsanto : They produce a seed product and a farmer purchases and plants it. After harvesting and during spring the next year a neighboring farmer also plants his crop and some of Monsanto's also come up. It's called drift and anyone who has a neighbor with dandelions in...

    Do you avoid GMO's?

I'm not sure how avoiding GMO = avoiding vaccines. I'm very pro vaccines, my children have had all of the recommended plus additional ones like hep and hpv. I also disagree about the tomatoes. I grow heirloom variates each year and they taste 10 times as good as any store bought. They are...

Is 12 too old to start sports

No in my opinion it's not. My oldest has always played sports but not football. He started last year at age 12. Was there a learning curve, yes very much so. That first practice was very hard, he wanted to quit and I made him go back for the next practice. (Baseball is much less physically...

Cuties (the tiny little clementine tangerines/oranges)

Not sure where else they are grown (Florida?) but California grows a lot and we had unseasonable cold followed by a drought. That can cause real issues with citrus.

    Do you avoid GMO's?

We avoid them. I only purchase organic fruits, veggies, eggs, milk, sugar ect... I'm working on the meat and fit it in as much as possible but I can't always with my budget. I really wish they would label everything though. If it's not "harmful" why are they complaining? I personally can't...
