Commemorative Wands ~ Celebration of Harry Potter 2017

Well, some folks don't care for the flimsier feel of the interactive wands, so that's the trade-off. It would be nice if they had a new design each year, but in the future, I think I'd only purchase one if it were available at the Celebration and not for preorder.

Commemorative Wands ~ Celebration of Harry Potter 2017

Well, at the Celebration of Harry Potter, Team Members were telling guests that they weren't interactive. So there's that.

Commemorative Wands ~ Celebration of Harry Potter 2017

Well, it's only a map of the Wizarding World, but it looks pretty flippin' cool.

Commemorative Wands ~ Celebration of Harry Potter 2017

At designated locations in the Wizarding World at Universal, pointing and waving an interactive wand in a certain manner will cause a brief live-action special effect to go off, as if by magic (like displaying an animation, or a simple animatronic effect, or even turning on a water fountain)...

Commemorative Wands ~ Celebration of Harry Potter 2017

Why? Other than complaining or demanding a refund, what can you possibly do? I can guarantee that the situation is not the fault of whoever you speak to at Guest Relations, and they're likely not even aware of the situation. They're just people working a job.

Commemorative Wands ~ Celebration of Harry Potter 2017

I contacted Universal regarding the wand situation (I'm in the same boat) and got this response: Unfortunately, there was an unexpected delay in receiving the wands to then ship out to our Guests. We sincerely apologize. We understand how frustrating this is and please know it is not our...

    Thoughts on Animal Kingdom’s Pandora

The "ride vehicle" stays on the floor, which tilts up, down, and banks in front of an IMAX screen. Your feet do not move, as it feels like they're in the stirrups of a saddle. The neat trick is that you can feel the flanks of the Ikran breathing under you, against your legs. It's quite...

    Thoughts on Animal Kingdom’s Pandora

There will be two new brews available at Pongu Pongu: Mo’ara High Country Ale, and Hawkes’ Grog Ale (both available in 16 and 22 oz. sizes). Souvenir mugs will also be available.

    Thoughts on Animal Kingdom’s Pandora

Thanks for your kind words. I am not an employee of the Walt Disney Company (although to be honest I used to be, years ago -- but I am currently employed by a third-party vendor and work on Disney property), and I was not compensated for the review I posted. I genuinely had a great time despite...

    Thoughts on Animal Kingdom’s Pandora

Well, to clarify: Beastly Kingdom was going to be a look at humanity's shared historical mythology, and would include exhibits on how real animals inspired mythological creatures. The vision for Animal Kingdom was "The animals that are, the animals that were, and the animals that never were."...

    Thoughts on Animal Kingdom’s Pandora

Sorry; I should have been more clear. The only animals represented are the toy Banshee puppets from Windtraders that glow in UV light.

    Thoughts on Animal Kingdom’s Pandora

Avatar: Flight of Passage is pretty damn intense (Mrs. Litebeer said "E-Ticket? That's an F-Ticket!"). It's like Soarin' in most regards, but there were some times when I felt a bit queasy.

    Thoughts on Animal Kingdom’s Pandora

It's every bit as immersive as The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

    Thoughts on Animal Kingdom’s Pandora

I'm told the Imagineers deliberately crafted the area so Guests wouldn't need to be familiar with the film to enjoy it.

    Thoughts on Animal Kingdom’s Pandora

If there was a walkthrough attraction, it either wasn't open or wasn't listed on my guidemap. But honestly, the entire area itself is a walkthough attraction by itself.

    Thoughts on Animal Kingdom’s Pandora

Hi, fellow Galactic Rangers! Buzz Litebeer here (remember me?), sending a long-range hyperspace message directly from Pandora! I’ve long been of the opinion that the Avatar franchise is an ill fit for Animal Kingdom park, with it’s emphasis on actual, REAL animals from our past and present. The...
