Why isn't Disney building more Deluxe or Moderate Hotels?

$24+ Million a year to upkeep 20 Bungalows, 360 [converted] Studios, and Grill Utencils in a self suffiencent resort atmosphere where resort rates start at $508/nt... AFTER an initial buy-in of $650+ Million. $65,000 a day in dues... and Disney doesn't make any money? The converted Longhouses...

Why isn't Disney building more Deluxe or Moderate Hotels?

They want an immediate return on their investment... with as little effort as possible. I believe you had posted as of July... Poly DVC had sold 460,000-ish points? For easy math... let's just say they sold for $163/pp ($160 for DVC, $165 for New)... to the tune of $74.9 million in sales... as...

    Polynesian Building Suggestions

I'd start out with Tikiman's site. Each Longhouse shows categorized room views and if they have balconies. http://www.tikimanpages.com/poly/the-resort/longhouses Outside of Hawaii (Club Level) and the DVC Longhouses (Pago Pago, Moorea, and Tokelau,) all other Longhouses offer Garden View...

Non club level to club level the same day?

As soon as you check in... So... theorically speaking... you guys could pack up the room, and drop your luggage off as early as 6a on the 30th, check into your CL room, and have access to the lounge immediately.

    Parking at Polynesian...

You'll hear success stories... but with the additions of DVC and Trader Sam's... the Polynesian has cracked down on parking. It wouldn't be worth the 'stress' to me. The safest bet would be to park at the TTC and walk over. It typically opens about 2hrs before MK opening.

    Poly Bungalow Avails

Our quoted rate at the Polynesian in late August, including tax... is nearly $50 less a night... than the tax alone (12.5%) of a Bungalow. But if that was money was burning a hole in my pocket... I'd have no hesitation booking a bungalow.

    Help!! Trying to stay cool

Have you contacted your TA to see if there is availability at the Polynesian to still do a split stay? 9 nights at POR followed by the Polynesian (instead of AKL). I know there's been cancellations, us included... who just didn't want to deal with the construction/East Pool closure. I was...

Pool at Poly is such a let down!

With construction of the Oasis Pool, comes the addition of a small poolside bar and grill. Like you mentioned, It will be fully enclosed by a fence. I don't think this will be a real 'loss' to the general public... and more of a nice perk (and selling point) to resort guests and DVC members.

Pool at Poly is such a let down!

I guess I'm not sure what they're changing? Disney could have absolutely enclosed the entire bar area, but chose not to; well quite honestly, they'd be foolish to! I've watched the video and browsed pictures... I personally don't feel there's a sense of segregation. Yes... there's a divider...

Pool at Poly is such a let down!

I think the introduction of an RFID lock had more to do with selling DVC than preventing Pool Hopping. Let's not forget, prior to closing, the Polynesian was an available resort for DVC members to 'officially' pool hop to. It's a great selling tool... 'exclusive' use of the Resort pool...

Pool at Poly is such a let down!

Our subdivision has an RFID Pool Gate Lock... no 'key'... no access. We have absolutely denied a group of kids who had been lingering at the gate waiting for someone to leave. We paused... politely asked them if they had a key... and when they said 'no', closed the gate behind us preventing...

    All Star Resort Renovations

The most recent renovation (at ASmo) was in 2011... ASsp and ASmu were well before that, as I remember having a renovated room at ASmu in 2007. Food Courts have been renovated for both ASsp and ASmu at this point.

Adult beverages in parks, at resort, or at ADR?

Trader Sams Grog Grotto is probably the 'best of the best' when it comes to fruity, tropical, rum drinks at the moment. While expensive, I've not read a single complaint of poor pours or weak drinks. The Spiky Pineapple (Tiki Terrace only) and Hippopotomai-tai seem to be fan favorites. The...

where would you stay POP or Carribean beach resort? and why?

I'd say go for it... try something new! CBR would definitely offer the larger room, now with Queen beds, and some with a pull down trundle similar to POR. The main pool also offers zero entry, two slides, and a separate splash playground with additional slides and interactive water play for...

Help a first timer choose a resort

It's so difficult to predict bus service... you can have 2 families, in 2 different parts of the resort, on 2 different park schedules... and they can have 2 completely different opinions on bus service. The biggest difference you may notice... is that POR has 3 internal stops, compared to...

Which Saratoga Springs Bus Stop is Closest to DTD?

I believe the poster was suggesting taking a cab from Pop to DTD. If MK or DHS are my options... I'd vote for DHS as it's closer to both Pop and SSR then the MK. We'd most likely then exit on Congress Park... and walk from there.

Perspectives of Grand Floridian's Boca Chica

We stayed GV in Boca Chica and absolutely loved the building location. We would have no hesitation requesting this building again for any view category. Here are some pics I took (in 2008) from the Lagoon side.
