Disney Wonder - January 20, 2019 — 7-Night Southern Caribbean Cruise from San Juan

We stayed right at "The Gallery Inn" on "Calle Norzagaray". We had a room in the courtyard that was somewhat isolated from the noise. There were some open rooms that overlooked "Calle San Sebastian" which is where a lot of the activity is. Condado should be open to traffic through the whole...

Disney Wonder - January 20, 2019 — 7-Night Southern Caribbean Cruise from San Juan

So we took this cruise two years ago. When we arrived at the airport and were picked up by our ride, the driver told us that he had good new and bad news. We opted for the good new first. It turns out that we had arrived on the weekend of the Festival of San Sebastian (which is the weekend you...

    *WONDER* Jan 14th 2019.

Just so that everyone knows, the Festival of San Sebastian may be happening when the ship returns to San Juan (I don't know if the dates have been set yet). There will be stages setup around the city where local musicians will perform, there are street parades, etc. The streets in the Old City...

January 21, 2018 Wonder - San Juan, St. Kitts, Martinique, Antigua, Aruba

The Festival San Sebastian will be happening the weekend of the 20th. That is the weekend that this cruise departs. The streets in Old San Juan will be closed to all traffic during the festival. If you stay in Old San Juan, it will be rather noisy until about 1:00 or 2:00 AM each night. There is...

January 21, 2018 Wonder - San Juan, St. Kitts, Martinique, Antigua, Aruba

We stayed at the Gallery Inn in San Juan and will do so again in 2018. It is a love it or hate it kind of place. It is safe to say it is unlike any place you have ever stayed. There are huge differences in the rooms (they all have names, not numbers). We stayed in one of the least expensive...

January 21, 2018 Wonder - San Juan, St. Kitts, Martinique, Antigua, Aruba

We just did this cruise in January 2016. We had a blast. However there is one really important piece of information that I wish we had know before we went on this cruise. We flew in on Friday before the cruise because we wanted to spend 2 nights in old San Juan. When we were picked up at the...

Jan 14th, 2018 7-Night Southern Caribbean from San Juan

We just did the Wonder / San Juan cruise last winter. It was great. Funny story about our experience. Last winter we did the second of the three cruises (this year we are doing the first of the three). We arrived two days early and booked a really neat hotel in Old San Juan (The Gallery Inn). So...

How bad is the ferry from Cozumel to the mainland????

My wife had the worst time ever on one of these ferries. It was particularly bad that day, sunny but windy. Many people were sea sick. We got to the mainland and just turned around and got back on the ferry. There was no way we could do the tour we signed up for. It took her a few hours to...

Stateroom 10162 Fantasy...tell me about it please?

We were in it, and will never book it again. The early morning noise and occasional soot are not worth it. We may try the lower aft decks some day.

    DVC Fantasyland Preview

We were at Magic Kingdom on Monday, 10/15. They had a dress rehearsal of both Bell's Story time and Ariel's ride. Bell's Story time takes groups of about 10 to 20 people at a time. You start by going through the magic door from Bell's father's workshop to the castle. This is a really neat...

    Recent Fantasy Western cruisers

We went in June. I do remember them having an extra show in the afternoon. I cannot tell you anything more than that.

Loungers on 7th floor aft verandahs?

We booked a deck 10 aft cabin expecting loungers. When we arrived, there were no loungers. We went to Guest Services and asked for them, and they showed up later that day. The only issues we had with the aft verandas were: 1) Very little breeze. 2) Some exhaust fumes.

I will not be joining you on facebook as I do not have an account there, nor do I have any desire to get one.

I believe that they hold back some of everything that you can reserve until the day of departure. This is so that everyone has a chance at it (instead of platinum and gold members grabbing everything).

    Buying while cruising?

We bought on a cruise and did not receive any additional incentives.

Shocked to be disappointed in Disney

I always recommend against the maiden voyage of a new cruise ship. The crew has yet to find its rhythm. The ship itself may have teething pains. I have even heard of cases where parts of the ship were not yet complete and there was active construction going on.

    DVC Perks on DCL

Don't give up hope. For any "resource" that is made available to castaway club members first, they hold back some so that other people have a chance. They may even hold back some to be available on the day of sailing.

    Lactaid milk on magic ?

They used to have Lactaid, my wife will be very upset if they have stopped carrying it. She will not drink the rice milk products. It is a significant enough issue that we would stop sailing on Disney.

    Castaway Cay Sailboats? Lessons?

They do not provide sailing lessons on Castaway Key. They require that you have sailing experience in order to rent the sailboats. You can tell them whatever you want. Of course what will happen is you will get blown where ever the breeze takes you and will probably tip the boat over and not...

I was told that DVC was the worst timeshare.

I think of it this way. A normal timeshare is like a car, and a DVC is like a large boat. With the car you can pretty much go anywhere you want and is cheaper to own. You can get the boat from lake to lake, but it is not really worth the effort. But for sailing around in Lake Disney, the car...
