Vancouver. Best place to stay before cruise and transportation to ship.

Our perfect hotel was the Hyatt Regency - because we had Hyatt points. Depending on when you arrive in Vancouver, I think staying in a hotel at the airport makes sense, too.

Fantasy Springs is opening June 6th 2024

Yes, that’s kind of our strategy. Getting a DPA as soon as we get in. We are ok with not seeing it all - and we do have wiggle room and can add another day at TDS (if tickets are available). As you say, everyone has different priorities. We are never the type of people who need to tick off...

Transatlantic - Tell Me All the Things!

We are considering that cruise, too. My husband has done many TAs on other cruise lines (one on DCL) and loves them. For me it would be a new experience, but we did a PC cruise in 2014 with many sea days as well. I thought DCL did a great job with keeping us entertained on those sea days. My...

Fantasy Springs is opening June 6th 2024

Our line of thinking is that it cannot be so difficult to get into the new land. It has several high capacity attractions. It’s quite a big land. We just don't want to pay that much money for a few hours. BUT we also know that we love everything else in these two parks, which we will be able to...

They are here! (Summer 2025 I mean)

Book on opening day. Once you have the placeholder see if you can rebook with it for cheaper. If not, keep the placeholder for booking summer 26 on opening day or cancel it and get your 250$ back.

    Alaskan Cruise

We did inside last year and loved our cabin. We were on deck 1 and it was a great location. Close to atrium (two floors up) and if we needed an elevator it was always empty. We went with the category 10 inside for a bit more space and the split bathroom. I had a category 11 sideways one before...

Laundry at GF Big Pine Key

Yes. That’s true. It’s a tiny laundry room. It’s on the ground floor. If you enter the building from the pool side you turn right and it’s in the hallway towards the rooms just at the start on the left hand side.

Food quality on Dream vs. other Disney ships

We sailed the Dream and the Wonder in 2023 and thought the food on the Wonder was much better than on the Dream. Same dishes were better prepared and plated, so we did experience a bit what you did, but not to the point that we thought the food was bad. We just noticed on the Wonder that the...

They are here! (Summer 2025 I mean)

I personally would prefer a vacation that has only two parts not three. The 9 night cruise sounds like a fantastic mix of relaxation and exploration. I would rather tag on one more day in Vancouver than rush to see another city.

    Australia/NZ Cruises

I think that that's a good benchmark, around 15% would be generous in Europe. But hopefully the tour will be wonderful and you want to give them a nice tip. If one person doesn't accept a tip, that can happen. Especially if they are self employed and keep the whole excursion price anyway. But if...

    Next Batch of Cruises

Meyer Werft has it on its website for 2025 delivery. And only one other ship between Treasure and this one. Of course delivery 2025 can mean first cruises in 2026. Who knows outside some people at Disney and Meyer?

Triton 3. It's still announced for 2025. But yes, won't be in the summer. But these itineraries take us to September, so fall and winter might already be different.

    Australia/NZ Cruises

All over the place. Definitely do not tip US cash if you are in the Eurozone to off the ship vendors. On a tour with 30 people from different nationalities, you might see people tipping nothing and others 20%. It's very difficult to give a hard rule. I would suggest to not tip under 5%. But it...

    Next Batch of Cruises

Also, the third new ship is supposed to debut in 2025. So, with that there will have to be a new mix. New ship might do short cruises and Fantasy or Dream might be doing some longer cruises, too.

    Australia/NZ Cruises

I think we Europeans are still used to some level of tipping being common in some countries, so they would not be totally against tipping. They might be inclined to reduce tips though. But yes, plenty of well off Americans on those European sailings which will buffer European stinginess. But...

They are here! (Summer 2025 I mean)

The most popular excursion is the one that gets on a smaller boat for closer glacier viewing on the glacier cruising day. We would have been able to book this as gold. Nothing major was booked out in gold excursion day. So I would say concierge is not needed. We also found that booking outside...

See, I don’t think a 3 night cruise is a vacation. But that might just be me. 😊

    Next Batch of Cruises

It didn’t use to be. Before the Wish it was one ship doing short cruises to Bahamas, one doing 7 night Caribbean cruises, one ship doing Alaska and one Europe in the summer. So, 1/4 was short cruises Bahamas. Now they have three ships doing short cruises, so 1/2. Yes, Europe got a bigger ship...

    Next Batch of Cruises

But in general it is confirmation that DCL sees their business model as lots of short cruises to the Bahamas. That’s what the fleet expansion brings us. Not more interesting destinations. To me it looks like that even the European itineraries have become much more boring…

That EBTA might be calling my name. It stops at Castaway Cay… And the timing works very well with 5/1 being a public holiday here in Germany, so one less vacation day needed. I like to arrive with plenty of buffet from overseas for a cruise.
