    Walking to/from Cabana Bay

As far as I know, only Cabana Bay room keys will open the gate. The best way to visit is to take the shuttle bus from the bus stop under the Hub, near CityWalk. BTW, the walk from CityWalk is about 15 minutes.

    Walking to/from Cabana Bay

I ran into a very confused couple at RPR who were trying to find their way back to Cabana Bay. I gave them the shortcut (cross Hollywood Way from the main entrance to RPR and turn left). I later found out why they were so lost. The signage for Cabana Bay when you leave CityWalk near Jimmy...

Should I be worried?? Cabana Bay

I'm at Cabana Bay now and my guess is that there are probably several reasons for negative comments and reviews. 1. Service and training glitches that are almost inevitable when a new property opens. Check the dates of those reviews. If they were for visits during soft opening that could be...

    Free "Hidden Mickeys" scavenger hunt

I thought the budget minded on this forum might be interested in this: To celebrate the publication of the sixth edition of Steve Barrett's Hidden Mickeys: A Field Guide To Walt Disney World's Best Kept Secrets, they're giving a way a PDF of the Downtown Disney scavenger hunt. Here's the...

    Favorite Disney Books

Podcaster Aaron Wallace is bringing out a new book that could become a classic. It's called "The Thinking Fan's Guide To Walt Disney World: Magic Kingdom" and is the first of a projected series. It treats the theme park as if it is a work of art (which I guess it is) and analyzes the...

    Hidden mickey apps

There's really no discussion on this. Go with Steve Barrett's official app. (You can tell it because it has the same type face as the book in the App Store... maybe someone can provide the exact link.) All the competitors are copycats who probably did their "research" by cribbing out of...

Help. Trying to Plan a DL/USH trip

My advice is to allot at least a day to Universal Studios Hollywood. And NOT a day that involves a trip from the Anaheim area. Do it right. Go to the Hollywood Hills. Stay at a Universal on-property hotel or one nearby. Then enjoy USH and CityWalk for a day. Maybe two.

No, it will be shipped soon. The books are being shipped from the printer tomorrow. I'll see if I can get better info.

Hidden Mickeys Go To Sea for Christmas?

I don't think that would get it to you in time. Too bad. Media Mail usually takes about a week, although it can be quicker depending on where you live.

Hidden Mickeys Go To Sea for Christmas?

Thought folks here would like to know that the second edition of Steve Barrett's "Hidden Mickeys Go To Sea" is on sale for $7.66, plus free media mail shipping in the US and Canada. :yay: The new edition now covers all four ships, plus Castaway Cay. It won't go on sale until February at...

"Universal Orlando 2013" Is On The Way

Hey, it's been a while, but I wanted to let the gang here know that the next edition (the 12th!) of "Universal Orlando" by me and Seth Kubersky will be published on November 16th at $15.95. But there's a special pre-publication offer that gets you the book, PLUS a 50-page ebook about what's...

    Wanna be a guidebook writer?

I am looking for someone to assist in updating some popular Orlando area guidebooks. You need to be a theme park freak with an encyclopedic knowledge and affection for the non-Disney Orlando theme park scene. You should also be an Orlando area resident with solid writing credits and the...

New York Times Magazine story on Disney Trip

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/12/magazine/a-rough-guide-to-disney-world.html I believe the Times lets you read an article if you come to it via a link. Let me know. I found the article extraordinary and fascinating, but I don't mean either of those adjectives in any positive sense...

Misinformation on Amazon about Harry Potter ebook

Bumbershoot: I used the feedback mechanism -- twice. The distributor also weighed in. The Amazon listing is now somewhat better; at least the side by side price comparison between the excerpt and the full book is gone. But it still seems confusing to me. I'm afraid what's there now is...

    Talking Water Fountain

One of my favorite "factoids" about the Mystic Fountain is that, when the park opened, it was something of an afterthought, a little something extra thrown into the Lost Continent because it was kinda fun. It wasn't even on the park map. Of course, it became wildly popular and it was soon...

Misinformation on Amazon about Harry Potter ebook

Maybe. I don't how that works, but you'd think an electronic book should be available anywhere.

Misinformation on Amazon about Harry Potter ebook

I hear you. And you were absolutely right to feel that way. That's a point I made to both Amazon (via feedback) and our distributor: That we are going to wind up with angry customers, something which (in theory at least) no one wants. I would encourage you to write an angry email to Amazon...
