Which restaurant the first night after our flight?

Sorry, I can't remember how long it takes on magical express. But my suggestion for dinner the first night would be to make a reservation at your resort's onsite restaurant (if there is one) as you will probably be tired from travelling and might just want to enjoy taking in your resort...

For those that take your kids out of school...

I live in Australia and, as a couple of other Australians have mentioned on this thread, it has never been an issue here. Fortunately, our school and the kids' teachers have always been very supportive and talked about the value of travel and family experiences. They usually just ask them to...

What Souvies are a MUST on the ship?

A beach towel, a photo frame, a T-shirt for each of the kids and a few of the professional photos (besides taking 100's of my own photos). I also really like the Christmas ornament idea and might start doing that as well.:flower3:

    HOB gospel brunch?

I just purchased tickets for our family to attend this in April. I booked 2 months in advance - but I don't necessarily know that this was necessary (I just like being REALLY organized)! Tickets are non-refundable. I did have to call HOB direct - and it took me a couple of tries to get through...

Which TS at Magic Kingdom for dinner?

We really enjoyed the character dinner at LTT. Yummy comfort food, a nice atmosphere and lots of attention from the characters. The food is Thanksgiving-type food and, we thought, very nicely done.

DVD e-mail code -can we compare dates please?

yes, those are the same dates we got with our code. Unfortunate - as we are going the end of April.:headache:

    What does your toothfairy pay?

$1 per tooth (I sure hope my children don't discover this thread and find out that other "fairies" pay 5 and 10 times as much...):faint:

    Best Food @ Character Dining??

We really enjoyed the character dinner at the Liberty Tree Tavern in MK. It was served family style (where they bring platters of food to your table) so you're not getting up and down to go get your food - much more relaxing. the character interaction was great. The food was "Thanksgivingish" -...

    Biergarten: Yea or Nay???

This was probably one of our most enjoyable, fun and interesting meals of our last trip. The kids were 5 and 8 at the time, none of us were particularly familiar with German food and we all found plenty of food to eat. The food was tasty and a bit different, the atmosphere was fun and the...

Reality Check -- Poly really worth $400 a night?

I love staying at beautiful hotels - but I don't really think any hotel would be worth $400 a night to me (unless maybe if it included meals or something). I find that with the internet, we are able to find such great deals at beautiful places and it's just not necessary to pay that sort of...

Extra Magic Hours: Which one do you prefer? Morning or Night

We definitely prefer night for 3 reasons: 1) We are on vacation - and not early risers at the best of times, so we like to sleep in. 2) 3 hours as opposed to 1. 3) There's just something magical about being in the parks late at night.

    Port Orleans Riverside - Location

When we stayed at POR, I was very set on being in the mansion section - and requested this. However, upon check in, I was told that no rooms were available in the mansions and we were assigned a room in Aligator Bayou. I felt an initial twinge of disappointment - but ended up being completely...

    AS Movies or POR?

I haven't stayed at All Stars, but have stayed at POR in the Alligator Bayou section (which is the section with the trundle beds). We loved POR and would recommend it. Our kids were 8 and 5 at the time. The main reason we chose POR over a value resort was for the water slide at the pool - and it...

Airtran just changed my flights for the 5th time!

Wow! I tried doing a web booking on them the other day and it ended up not accepting it because I live in Australia so my credit card billing address didn't match their options.....after reading these posts, I think I'm kind of glad it didn't work out!

Convince me that staying on-site is worth it!!

Personally, I won't even consider staying off-site. I know that you can get much better value elsewhere, I know that the Disney resorts are expensive - but it is just part of the magic for us - Disney saturation (and I mean that in a good way)! It is also a huge convenience factor - quick and...

    Dinner on 1st night??

On our last trip, we made a reservation at our resort's restaurant for the first night - that kept it easy as we only had to walk over to the restaurant after a long day of travelling. On our next trip we should be arriving by lunch time and I have made reservations for the first night at Chef...

    Does everyone really tip housekeeping?

WOW! I posted this poll 2 days ago, checked it today for the first time and there are 9 pages of posts! Obviously a hot topic. Thank you for all the interesting responses and ideas. It looks like about 1/2 of the respondents always tip and the other 1/2 vary from sometimes to never. As someone...

    Does everyone really tip housekeeping?

While I now live in Australia, I grew up in the USA and have a very good understanding of the tipping system. I certainly know to tip in restaurants, taxis, cruise ships, bell services, tour guides, etc. However, prior to discovering these boards a couple of years ago, I had never, ever heard of...

DISNEY! If you are reading this board...

I agree with you 100 percent Lollipop's Mom! Our oldest child is now 10 and is not a big eater - we opted to not do the dining plan the next trip and to only do 1 set price buffet because it is simply really bad value to be paying an adult price for her. I doubt it will happen though, and if it...
