I think the Hotel you are referring to is Hotel Royal Plaza. I stayed at this Hotel a few years ago before it was refurbished and I remember it being pink in color. It also has the glass elevator that you can see going up the front of the hotel.:)

Have you looked into Cocoa Beach 50 miles from Disney less than 1hr drive from the Disney Resorts. We stayed there on our last trip to Disney and tied in a trip to Kennedy Space center. We stayed at the Hampton Inn right on the beach it was nice.:)

There is a nice Courtyard by Marriott in Lake Buena Vista few blocks from Downtown Disney. Check out Marriott web site I think this is the closest Marriott brand to DD.:)
