May 13 Wrapup trip report: What we enjoyed, and why we may try another line next time

RE: Fresh Water Pools...The FOS has them and soon all of RCCL's fleet will have them...or that is what I have heard....so that shouldn't be a concern anymore. We have sailed 3 DCL cruises and now 2 RCCL..Mariner and FOS. Loved them both and will probably continue sailing RCCL since our boys...

    RCCL FOS vs Disney

To answer your questions... 1. Yes, there is a sailaway party on RCCL...IMHO, we think it's just as fun as DCL...pretty much the same type of thing and energy! 2. Actually, Johnny Rockets use to be FREE til Summer 2004 (when Mariner sailed and when we started RCCL). Apparently, too many...

Disney vs Freedom of the Seas

We feel the same way. After 3 DCL cruises, we were ready to try something different. Plus, my boys are older now and were just getting bored w/ DCL. After 2 RCCL cruises since 2004 (most recent FOS last month) we probably won't go back to DCL...maybe someday when we have grandchildren...who...

Disney vs Freedom of the Seas

The activities like ice skating, rock climbing, golf, flowrider, room service, Sorrentos Pizza, 24 hr promenade cafe are ALL FREE. There is a 3.95 cover charge now for Johnny Rockets, Ben & Jerry's has a fee and drinks are not free either. If you drink water like me, that won't be an issue.

Disney vs Freedom of the Seas

Since FOS can hold 4000 people, I'm sure the chances of running into more rude people are higher. However, we have also witnessed rude, obnoxious people on DCL and once our Cabin Steward was rude and unfriendly to us all week! Just because it's Disney, doesn't mean you are protected and...

For All Those Interested...Just got off Freedom of the Seas!

It would depend on how old your kids are. When we first cruised DCL, we had the family cabin w/ all 5 of us. After the 2nd year, it got too crowded due to my boys getting bigger and the privacy issue. My husband didn't want them in the room w/us either..haha. So we put them across the hall...

For All Those Interested...Just got off Freedom of the Seas!

We sailed on the Mariner in 2004 and did the Western. We did do the Eastern on DCL and I know that the Freedom and Liberty are both planning on alternating Eastern/Western Itineraries next year. When we were on the Mariner, she was only 6 months old and was beautiful. Mariner is just like...

For All Those Interested...Just got off Freedom of the Seas!

RE: DINING...On RCCL, you go to the same place each night. The dining room is beautiful and is 3 decks so your seapass card will say which Deck you are...We were Deck 3 but the dining room goes up to Deck 5. They did a great job of seating us w/ the perfect table mates this time. We are a...

For All Those Interested...Just got off Freedom of the Seas!

I apologize for not answering sooner....I couldn't find my post and just noticed it was moved to the Trip Reports. We stayed in Miami for 2 nights before the cruise. Since my kids are older we chose the Courtyard South Beach..right in the heart of South Beach but decent hotel for the price...

For All Those Interested...Just got off Freedom of the Seas!

It was the 7 day Western Caribbean out of Miami....Cozumel, GC, Montego Bay and Labadee (RCCL island). We were on Deck 8 w/ a verandah and our boys had an inside stateroom. Next year I hear the Freedom will be alternating Eastern to Puerto Rico, San Juan, St Maarten, etc. There is also...

For All Those Interested...Just got off Freedom of the Seas!

I posted months back that I would let you all know how our Freedom Cruise was...(RCCL). All I can say is...WOW! She is a beautiful and huge ship! We had a great time, perfect weather and calm seas. So much to do and so little time. As usual, we didn't want to get off the ship. The...

We LOVE DCL - Will RCCL disappoint us?

I agree w/ attagirl....on more than one occasion, we have witnessed DCL crew members socializing w/ others and we even chatted w/ a few on a more personal level. Learned many things about them...even how many of them "hook up" or have met while working on the cruise. Even more shocking was a...

    RCCL:Freedom of the Seas?

We are on the June 18th sailing....so YES getting excited. We booked about 6 months ago and can't believe it is only 5 months away now! I will be sure to let you guys know all about it!!

After 2 Disney Cruises, the new RC Freedom of the Seas is looking good.

We are cruising the FOS in June 2006! As far as I know, the Flowrider will have a sign up system prob like the rock climbing. From what I hear, people don't stay on the flowrider for long, so it should move quickly. Would prob be fun to just watch the others too! They will also have a big...

Disney vs. Carnival or Royal Caribbean?

Actually, (for whoever is interested) over at the Cruise Critic they are saying that RCCL has already switched some of their ships to No Salt Water Pools and I know for sure the new Freedom will also not have salt as their water parks can't withstand the salt...it will ruin/rust the equipment, etc.
  16. T

Disney vs. Carnival or Royal Caribbean?

RCCL is currently in the process of switching their ships' pools to NO salt water so don't let that be a factor. We cruised DCL til my kids got older in mid-late teens. After the Mariner in 2004, they won't go back to DCL. Just more to do on the Voyager Class Ships for the teens AND...

Freedom of the Seas and Disney

We are currently booked on FOS for June 18,2006! Other than 3 DCL cruises, we have only done the Mariner last Summer (2004). My boys are older now (14, 18, 20) so we will probably not sail DCL anymore...so much more for us on RCCL or the Voyager Class Ships. Since we are one of the first...

    Tips for battling seasickness

I don't do well around vomiting people anyway (except my own kids) so now I have permission to ditch them!! I'll remember that...

    Royal Caribbean is better.

Last we were on The Mariner (RCCL) the ice cream was FREE..at least the softie type w/ cones were a self-serve til 11pm.

    RCCL:Freedom of the Seas?

The PR Rooms on the Mariner will only allow for 2 people. I asked more than once because I wanted my youngest to stay w/ them also and they said 2 was the limit. The rooms are rather small so I can see why. We barely had enough room to just walk around and once my teens had their stuff all...
