What is one comment that you can't forget.

I was divorced with two kids, and I started dating a widower with a child. He told me that since I had two kids, I was very lucky that he would go out with someone like me (just one of many belittling comments). When I ended the relationship, he continued to call me for two years asking me to...

What is the worst damage that has been caused to your home?

Hurricane Hugo in 1989.....four feet of salt water and also puff mud and sewage in most of my house, more in lower part; also had roof damage and lost over 20 mature trees. I had 2 toddlers at the time, and I would pack snacks and (new) toys and would go stand in line at the FEMA office all day...

    Dog with Cancer - Update

Hugs to you in this difficult time. I lost my sweet Rasta three years ago rather suddenly to cancer, and her companion Gabe was deeply saddened. Very shortly thereafter, we went to my mother's house to help her out, and Gabe and her adult male/only dog bonded, which I think helped him...

I am at my wits end- dog question UPDATE

I have a senior dog who has some hearing issues, and when he barks, it is usually because another dog barked or because he is looking for me. Dogs do get dementia, and though my dog Gabe has not been diagnosed, my vet recommended a nutritional supplement, Senilife, that you can get on Amazon...

Anyone else have a tall daughter?

Daughter measured six feet at her 12 year checkup...that is tough on a 12 year old, also when trying to find clothes and shoes that are appropriate for her age. We found that some stores like Gap and American Eagle had longer pants on their websites. She played basketball and had college...

    Doctor's office rant

Check your EOBs carefully, too.....I recently had an annual physical, which is covered 100% by my health insurance, but the doctor's office coded it as an office visit, and my insurance won't pay unless the office corrects the IDC code and resubmits the claim. I haven't been to the doctor in...

    Your Worst Job Interview

I interviewed with a law firm several years ago for a real estate paralegal position, and the attorney said, "what does a paralegal do? I am not sure I even know what the h*** one does." After I gave a brief summary, he said, "oh, no, no, no. Our GIRLS do not leave the office. " During an...

Anyone up? Harry & Meghan Royal Wedding Watch thread

I've also heard Bishop Curry preach, and yesterday he was a bit subdued compared to his usual preaching ;) I believe that whoever asked him to preach the homily most likely knew what to expect.

And you are accusing me of being judgemental?

Spinoff- when you want a boy or girl and don’t get your wish

That is quite a reach, Hikergirl. My point was obviously missed. We hear about every ultrasound and the first thing she looks for in each ultrasound (she pays for extra ultrasounds out of pocket so she can look at the genitals - her words, though a little cleaner for this board). She asks...

Spinoff- when you want a boy or girl and don’t get your wish

Hikergirl, the co-worker is adamant that she does not want a daughter and will not be happy if she has one. The missing little girl and the brutal attack on her family and her was random and very upsetting to folks here, and it upset several of us in the office to hear that a child would be...

Spinoff- when you want a boy or girl and don’t get your wish

A co-worker of mine is pregnant with her first child and from the day she found out she is pregnant has been very vocal that she "would die" if she finds out it's a girl and has had nightmares that it's a girl. She says her husband said "that better be just a bad dream," etc. One particular day...

Wonder how they'll spin this one.

And the agenda continues to be pushed. Check the facts as to the number of uniformed officers, the number of calls answered, and the results of those calls. There is no "typical" call in law enforcement. My son's sergeant and mentor was killed in the line of duty while responding to a...

Wonder how they'll spin this one.

Two very different situations and different actions taken by suspects during apprehension by authorities. Many around here wish that the killer who came to OUR city and murdered OUR neighbors had resisted and given the police reason to take him out during his arrest so we wouldn't have to see...

Wonder how they'll spin this one.

Very little was known about the murderer at Emanuel in Charleston at the time of his arrest, and he did not resist arrest. (No, I will not say the murderer 's name because he wants his name to be famous.) The authorities handled him in a way that led to the gathering of the information they...

East Coast Diser"s: Hurricane Mathew Cat. 5

Fortunately, the storm came here at low tide. We had 16" of water in the house but are able to stay there on an upper floor. No comparison to the damage from Hugo in 1989, so we are thankful. Prayers for those in Haiti and the islands - I can't imagine the devastation.

East Coast Diser"s: Hurricane Mathew Cat. 5

Thanks - it is pretty nasty especially with the pluff mud. At least I saved my photos. The rest is just stuff, so I've learned. Many people lost so much more. I don't have small children like I did during Hugo, but I am responsible for my 88 year old mom. Patience and a sense of humor are key:)
