Vacation rental scam - how do I handle this?

We have rented vacation condos many times, NEVER had a problem, and have recommended VRBO to a number of friends. Now I am not so sure. Over Labor Day weekend, we rented a condo to meet an out of town family member at Lake of the Ozarks. Nice weekend, nice average condo. I emailed the...

    Busses?

We just returned from a stay at DTD. We WERE NOT happy with their busses, and heard lots of complaints. They over-packed all the busses (I am not just talking the standing passengers that even WDW busses do), I am talking unbelievably crowded. Then we had to make several stops. Final straw...

    Cheap Airfare!

They just started flights to mid-west Kentucky (all other airlines, we have to drive two hours to a major airport). We scored $29 each way from mid-west Kentucky to Orlando!!!! Sounded like a good excuse for a mommy/daddy weekend get away.:sunny:

Any Good TARGET deals this week????

I also found LOTS of clearance in the freezer section. Banquet chicken patties (5 count box) $1.48, Prairie Farms garlic bread $.88, Gorton's fish sticks and fish patties, etc. Good deals even without coupons (especially on convenience items now that school is out). :thumbsup2

OT: Suggestions for a treasure chest

I found some at Hobby Lobby. They were made of cardboard (or something like it:confused3 ) for less than $10. There were various sizes. I then bought some cheap craft paints and "jewels" to decorate the box. Came out looking very cool! My DS still uses the thing 5 years later! :thumbsup2

    Crowds in October ?

We are looking at possibly going in October during Fall Break (2nd week of October). Can anyone tell me how the crowds are then? I have read that the crowds are miserable during Spring Break, but I don't think as many schools have a fall break. :confused3 Thanks for any help . :thumbsup2

    Angel Food Ministries...

I disagree with this opinion. I have not heard any reports of them running out, so one person saving a little money would not keep someone else (who may need it worse) from getting food. To the contrary, the website states that for every box someone purchases, money is donated toward boxes for...

    ID Tattoos

We bought the "dog tags" they could wear around their necks. DS's then 4, 5, 9 thought they were kind of neat. We bought them from a vending machine at Walmart, they were engraved while we waited, for around $5 each.

    Money wasted . . .

I just have to vent my frustration. DS 11 decides to play little league baseball. It's only his 2nd year, so we had to purchase a lot of equipment. Plus, his interest then spreads to younger DS's 6, 7. Which equals MORE equipment. So far, we have paid entry fees, fundraisers, purchased...

    Lost my job today

So sorry to hear about your situation. :grouphug: Another thing you may want to check into . . . the bonus you were expecting . . . if it is calculated on quantity of work/income you produced, it may actually be a commission. If so, your employer may be obligated to pay it. How did you...

What to take on plane w/21 month old DS?

I am a very nervous flyer, and flew alone with 25month-old DS. ASSUME NOTHING!! Be prepared for anything. We were supposed to have 1 hour layover to change planes in Chicago - ended up being a couple of hours longer. You never know what will happen. I took a fold-up umbrella stroller -...

Having a yard sale. What items do shoppers typically look for?

A BIG shocker to me was gift bags. Had a yard sale right after DS was born, had 30+ "baby" gift bags. Sister had "wedding" bags. We put $0.25 on each, sold EVERY LAST ONE!!! Lots of ladies said they would keep them at church for all of the showers that come up. I can't tell you how many I...

    Car sickness !!!

Here's a second vote for Bonine. It is a little harder to find than Dramamine, but it is worth looking for. Dramamine puts me to sleep, but Bonine does not. Another alternative is to give 1/2 of a dramamine. Still works for me, but without so much of the effects.

    All Star Sports Reviews PLEASE!

We stayed at ASSports 2 years ago. Very much a "boy" hotel. My boys loved it. They liked standing by the larger than life sports equipment. I have wondered if it is not as popular because sports tend to be so "boy" oriented that girls aren't impressed.

Pirate Birthday Party for 6 yr old boy!!!!

We did a pirate birthday party a few years ago. It was GREAT. Red bandanas for head gear. We did a treasure hunt, complete with map. For the treasure, we found a paper mache treasure box at Hobby Lobby and decorated it ourselves. Filled it with candy jewelry, candy gold coins, etc. Hobby...

Dining Budget Ideas - Only CS in the Parks - Have You Done It?

Absolutely! Last summer we took our boys with the same plans you mention. They were 4, 5, and 9 at the time. First of all, they were much more interested in the rides and characters than in the restaurants. Secondly, the heat kept us from wanting any big meals. We typically started with...

    What is your household income?

Fellow Kentuckian here :wave2: Where in Kentucky are you? I am in mid-west Kentucky - average home price is $110,000 in our "city" of 90,000 people. Average household income is around $50K. "Poor" equals less than $20K, "wealthy" is $100,000 or better.

What do you do with your PayPal?

I am SO glad you started this thread! I have been pondering this all day. Am I the only one who feels funny about giving paypal your bank account info? I am very cautious in giving out this info, and as someone else said, Paypal is NOT a bank. I have used paypal several times in the past but...

Insurance companies !!! Which one do you trust and maybe even love?

We have had Farm Bureau for 15+ years. I was getting quite frustrated with them as their local office has some less-than-friendly employees. However, the true test was when our area was hit by a tornado. Farm Bureau was one of the fastest and most accommodating insurance companies - we were...
