I would see how you feel after swimming one or two times to get ready. If you have the fitness for the run portion (which you do), you should be able to handle the bike also. You will need to establish a comfort level in the water.

Don't give me too much credit for placing. It was insanely hot (90+) and the heat wiped out enough people in my division. It was such a surprise, we did not stick around for awards and they had to mail the award.

Organized rides have a tendency to be watched by representatives of the local law enforcement community so make sure to stop at the stop signs.

Two that are not too far from home are Spirit of Racine HIM and Whirlpool Steelhead 70.3. I have been to Racine and enjoyed it (even placed once) and know a lot of people that have been doing Whirlpool Steelhead the past 2-3 years. They have good things to say.
