We stayed at POR in Nov 2006 for 7 days and never found the buses to be "horrible". In fact, we didn't have a car and relied totally on the buses. I was very pleasantly surprised! We never waited more than 10 minutes on either end - park or resort.

It's not officially allowed but doing so shouldn't be a problem as long as the # of people at your table doesn't exceed the # of people listed on your card. So it you are all there, plus your guest you would have to pay oop for 1 person.

If my memory serves me, it is one GIANT snake that comes out directly at you. I hate snakes too and I closed my eyes (and screamed!!). I don't remember a lot of snakes, just the big one.
