I guess it depends on whether you enjoy having rigidity in your plans. I have never personally used TGM or any of the other services, and I have never missed an attraction I wanted to see. I think "see the great attractions early" (sorry, can't remember your exact words) is great advice...

I would say it is usually as busy as the rest of the summer. The local kids are heading back to school, but most of the Northeast isn't going back until after Labor Day, so I wouldn't count on a huge slow down for the end of summer. I would count on it being pretty busy...I'd say comparable...

If you have four days and plan on spending two at MK, I would suggest a full day at Epcot, and use the fourth day to split between MGM and AK. Since it's your first trip with the family, I think (this is just my opinion), you should try to check out AK, so you know if you want to return there...
