Need reviews for Budget Car Rental from TPA to MCO

I think if you join their Fastbreak program, you can bypass the main counter and go to the Fastbreak window in the garage. Probably won't get the intense upsell there! We had no problems returning the car at MCO. They just took a fast walk around, handed us our receipt, and we were on our way...

    Disney with Type 1 diabetes

We got back a few weeks ago from our first trip since DD was diagnosed T1. I was able to take my bag on every ride, no problem at all. As a previous poster mentioned, a FRIO bag is a great investment. DD uses insulin pens, and it kept them at room temp all day, even though it was 90+ degrees...

Need reviews for Budget Car Rental from TPA to MCO

For our trip last month, we rented from Budget at TPA and dropped it off at MCO. We got an awesome deal- $161 for 11 days for a full size. It was easy to navigate pick up and drop off at both airports. My only complaint was how hard the counter associate tried to upsell us to a larger...

Carrying an EpiPen around in the heat

The Frio is designed to keep things at room temp. At least our experience with it, the insulin pens we carried in it were never cold or chilled, but always at room temp. I know without it, the pen got warm, even though it was never in direct sunlight.

    Insulin Pen question

You will love the Frio! We used it for our trip 2 weeks ago, and it kept my daughters Humalog right at room temp. I kept it in my bag, and it did just fine. Just be sure you close the Frio (it has a velcro closure)- I forgot one day and the pen did feel warmer than usual. Thankfully it was after...

    UT ticket park entry question

We just returned from WDW and used UT tickets. The first day we used them thru the "traditional" turnstiles at HS. The next day we went to Epcot at opening, and got in a line with the new turnstiles. A CM with a handheld tablet like scanner scanned our cards and told us to get them converted to...

    Type 1 Diabetes in Disney

We just returned 2 days ago from our first trip since our DD8 was diagnosed T1D 18 months ago. I was so nervous, even though we have taken over 15 trips to WDW, but we did it! She did great- found she ran on the low side more often, but I am sure it was because of all the walking and pool...

Diabetics: Do You Eat Raw Oysters?

My DD is a Type 1 diabetic, and I am guessing it is because vomiting for a diabetic is a nightmare. Not being able to keep anything down causes havoc with your BG, and then there is the whole issue with ketones. I am sure they are thinking if you can stay away from anything that could possibly...

Insulin storage- first trip with a diabetic

Thanks for the help! Buffettgirl- your detailed reply is VERY helpful! You are right about keeping the insulin at Baby Care or First Aid. Unless we are very close to either place at meal or snack time, it will be to risky, so it has to stay with us. Thanks again!

    Is HRH standard big enough?

Thanks everyone! We are going with the Deluxe. We will be at WDW for 8 days before we hit Universal, so I am thinking we will need all the "space" we can get. Teenage boys get grouchy when they are hot and tired! :) It will be worth the extra money!

Insulin storage- first trip with a diabetic

Type 1 daughter was diagnosed last February and we finally we feel brave enough to tackle WDW again. I am getting ready to order Frio packs, and wondered how well they'll work in the July heat. She is on Humalog (pens) 3x a day, and Lantis at bedtime. Would the Frio work to keep the Humalog pen...

    Is HRH standard big enough?

I am getting ready to make our reservations for 7/29-7/31, and wanted to make sure I am making the right decision. I am looking at a standard room at HRH for the 5 of us (me, DH, DSs 17 and 14, DD 8), with a rollaway. We will also needa fridge for DD's insulin. Will we be super crowded in a...

    I am so scared

Hi OP- love your screen name! Is there someone helping you take steps at living more independently? I have been talking to several people who help people live a more independent life, as my son is about turn 18 and he will be involved in such a program. If you are working with someone like this...

    Practical Vera Bradley Bag Color...

Look at Symphony in Hue- it is a black background with a floral pattern using many colors. It should go with just about anything! As far as the wallet matching the bag- the one drawback to that is it often blends in so well that you can't find your wallet in your bag when you are in a hurry! :)

Need ideas: label bottles for daycare

Former daycare director here... we used masking tape to label bottles in our infant room. It was against state regs to use a microwave to warm up the bottles, so we used a crock pot. The masking tape rarely came off even if it got damp. It is a cheap and easy way to label them!

    Vera Bradley Fort wayne Sale

The earlier in the week you go, the better the selection. It is very crowded, especially the first day. It can be hard to browse. A lot of people just start grabbing stuff and then go sit on the floor and sort what they want and don't want. They have big bins all around filled with people's...

Toddler was bitten on arm and skin was broken. FINAL UPDATE #227

OP- just out of curiosity, is your child 1 or 2 years old? Do you know what the child to staff ratio is in his room? Assuming it is a licensed center in the state of Florida, the ratio for 1's is 6:1, and for 2's it is 11:1 . If by chance he is in a 2's class 11 2 year olds for 1 teacher is...

    Honda Odyssey ...good & bad

:thumbsup2We have owned 3- a 2000, a 2005 and just purchased a 2010. LOVE them all! We traded the 2000 one in for the 2010, and it had 197,000 miles on it. It never needed a major repair, just normal wear and tear issues- new brakes, belts, etc. The 2005 now has 125,000 miles on it and it drives...

    Buses At PO-R?

Let me start by saying I really don't like taking the bus when at WDW- i would much prefer to drive to each park. (The exception being Magic Kingdom- that is a pain to drive to!) We stayed 6 nights last week at POR, and my DH and kids really wanted to use the busses, so we did several days...

    Mobile Magic...worth it?

:thumbsup2 from us! We thought it was worth it when we were there last week. It is nice to see if fastpasses are still available, and what time they are being issued for. The character greeting times were nice too- just type in a character and find out if they will be in the park that day, and...
