So What's so great about WDW?

My favorite place in the world is WDW. More than anywhere else, I can leave my worries aside for a while, enjoy the rides and experiences (and food), and at the end of the day I am misty-eyed, happy, and completely worn out. When my DH and I got engaged in 1998, I warned him that a...

    Your most unexpected expenses

Any sort of unintentional clothing purchase. Twice now I underestimated the number of socks to pack, and I have bought socks in the parks in order to have enough. At the parks, they run about $6/pair, ouch. Also, DH had a bathing suit mishap one year (the string belt broke), and had to...

    Here's a tacky question!

I wouldn't see why you can't order it to go. I've been able to order to go off the menu from other TS Disney restaurants before (though admittedly it's been a few years since doing so). Just, I would call ahead and put in my order and then pick it up, rather than wait at the restaurant entrance.

Dole Whip _ I didn't have to go to WDW to try one

My DH is fanatic about Dole Whip Floats. There's something about seeing a banana tree in the general WDW area that first makes him think about Adventureland, and then wouldn't you know it, he starts talking about Dole Whip Floats. He can't survive a MK day without one. I really think it's all...

    What is Marrakesh Like?

We dined at Morocco's restaurant about 2 years ago, too long for me to remember what we ordered, other than to say that overall we had a great time and the food was very good. We had ADR for a late lunch, the place was very empty of other diners, the dancing and music was good, and my DD was...

    Carribean Resort or Boardwalk Inn

If you've stayed at CB in the past and are looking for an alternative, you might want to consider another Moderate resort, such as P. Orleans Riverside, P. Orleans Fr. Quarter, or Coronado Springs. That way, you have a bit of a change and yet keeping within the same dollar amount. Just a...

    Are We Snobs?

Of course, by the time you add a car rental, air tickets, park passes, and meals, it's not a free trip. So make it one to fit your needs and wishes. It's not being snobby to say that you've been hoping to return back to WDW and stay at so-and-such resort, and you just have your heart set on...

Family of Five: POR vs FW Cabins

Thank you everyone for advice and feedback, My DH and 7 yo DD are thrilled at staying in the cabins. My 17 yo DS was hoping for YBC and Stormalong Bay, and my 14 yo DD was hoping for POR! I'm liking the FW cabins because of the ability to preorder gardengrocer and have breakfast and dinner...

Family of Five: POR vs FW Cabins

Thank you everyone for your feedback! Based on the mostly positive reviews, we've decided on the FW cabins. No sense in squeezing into POR, I think we won't fit the beds. Plus, I forgot about Trail's End buffet at FW, I had heard it's the last remaining dining "deal" and I've never eaten...

    Changing resorts, keep free dining?

Huff, Adding a night to your package would mean + 1 night resort, + 1 night free dining plan. I can see where it's impossible to add a night to the expired promotion, yet it would be possible to still upgrade the resort for the same length of stay.

Family of Five: POR vs FW Cabins

We're heading to WDW in a month, an opportunity to take all the kids (usually it's just one kid in tow), but the budget won't allow for Deluxe resorts for the 5 nights we are there. With two adults/three kids (two of them teens), I'm a little hesitant about squeezing into the POR, with the two...

    Toiletries offered at DL Resorts

Why not pack a good brand of shampoo and conditioner in the little trial sizes? Or, use your favorite brand from home and fill up a trial size bottle? You should be able to have these in your carry one bags, so long as you are packing a total of 3 ounces or less and they all fit in a one quart...

    Ok Now I'm Mad.....

Ask when you check in what they can do to keep you in one room. Tell them that you are willing to have the King Bed for the entire stay or a Queen Bed for the entire stay, whatever might work. If they aren't able to help on day one, go back again on days two and three and ask if there have...

Anybody not care about Disney Dining?

I'm alot like Traviesojmt. At home, we don't dine out too often, and I either cook or we do simple take out. But when it comes to our WDW trip every year, everyone's got their favorite TS restaurants, and we run out of days before running out of favorite dining venues. Our WDW vacation is our...

    How critical is EE?

Thank you for your input, guys! I am going to go ahead and take advantage of the EE day to the fullest, at DL on Thursday. So, I'm going to switch out my DCA and DL days and just head over to DL on Wednesday afternoon/evening if we run out of stuff to do at DCA that day. I don't mind the...

    Your Favorite Resort?

Hi Ron, From the International Gateway entrance at Epcot, it can be a hike to Future World. But from the main entraince it is a hike to International Gateway, so it's all a wash, really! The nice thing about the Int'l Gateway entrance is that you are much closer to the majority of the...

What smells remind you of being in WDW?

There's a funky, dusty smell in the Epcot Energy ride, just as you enter the "dinosaurs in the swamp" section. I've come across that smell from time to time, and it takes me back! Also, the sugar-in-the-air smells mixed with vanilla on Main Street in MK is heavenly!

    Flight schedule change on United

Hi Maggie, As a travel agent, I can tell you that United won't let you make a change on that flight without charging you a fee for it. Their schedule change was very minor (adding 17 minutes to the flight time), more in order to meet their on-time requirements I'm sure.

    WDW resorts vs offsite

Hi Tiffer, How long are you in Orlando? If this is your first time to WDW, you might want to consider staying onsite and focusing just on WDW and the resorts/water parks there. It's easy to underestimate the enormity of WDW. Universal/IOA/Sea World makes its own fantastic vacation, and...

    Questions about Port Orleans Riverside

We stayed at POR in July and loved it. We were in the AB section, and had the trundle bed. There were 4 of us (3 adults and 1 7 yr old). The little one was supposed to be sleeping on the trundle, but two nights in a row my DH fell asleep on the trundle and we left him there (he was worn...
