Top Disney Resort?

What would you consider the top deluxe resorts at Disney? We stayed this year at Animal Kingdom and loved it! We were thinking about trying somewhere else just to see all that Disney has! What is your top resorts and why?

You will get a lot of different opinions on this. Technically, the "top" resort is Disney's flagship resort, the Grand Floridian. But, you will find plenty of people who don't like it at all. We are staying there next year for the 1st time, so we'll see where it lands on our list.

Our absolute favorite is the WL!!! Absolute heaven!!! :goodvibes

We really loved YC as well, and wish they could plop the WL down in YC location and it would be perfect!!! :thumbsup2

Y&BC love the POOL (SAB) easy access to EPCOT & DHS (:boat:). Also numerous excellent restaurants with walking distance. Just the way we look at it. ::yes::

Our favorite is the Poly, but we have loved all of the resorts we've stayed at and wouldn't hesitate to stay at any of them again :goodvibes.

My top resort is Boardwalk Inn.
I believe that the Polynesian is actually regarded as the most coveted place to stay.

The only deluxe we've stayed at is Poly but it was absolutely amazing. Very relaxed and laid back feeling. We spent two weeks there for our honeymoon and it was amazing!

The only deluxe we've stayed at so far was AKL (kidani) and we LOVED it! I could stay there for every trip and be happy. This year were doing a split stay between BC and AKL (jambo) - we are most excited for Stormalong Bay! But I don't see BC taking over AKL for our "top spot".

You are going to get every deluxe resort named as the top resort. ;) We have stayed at all of the deluxe resorts except AKL. My favorites are the BC for location, great pools and I love the beach theme. And I love WL for its woods theme, proximity to MK without the annoying monorail problems, a great counter service restaurant and overall beauty. I also loved the fact that it is compact and all under one roof.

We love the Polynesian for the convenience, beauty, and tranquility. We have stayed at CR and AK also. By far the Poly is our favorite followed by CR. We did not care for AK at all. It was too far away from everything and the rooms were much smaller than the other two resorts. We have two boys and getting them to sleep in one bed is impossible at their ages, 15 and 19. AK only has the two beds where the other two have the daybed also. AK has a nice theme but is a place that I will visit but not stay in the future.

You will probably get a lot of different answers on this, but I would say it will be one of the deluxe resorts.

For us, it’s the Beach Club. It’s definitely our favorite resort.

We love the theming of it and the fact that you can walk to HS and Epcot. Plus, Stormalong Bay and the beach area are great to relax at.

Even with the Grand Floridian considered the flag ship resort and before it was built the Contemporary was known as that, The Polynesian has always been the testing grounds of many things that have gone into the other resorts. Things like concierge (club level) were first done at the Polynesian and technologies like their computer system (now used at all the resorts) and even smaller things like the touch screen ordering system used at counter service locations. Many things over the years are tried out at the Polynesian first because behind the scenes many in Disney see the Polynesian as the flag ship resort.

Thanks everyone!! We are looking at all the options!! Im really thinking Poly?!?!

Steve I have to say I LOVED the touch screen ordering at Capt. Cooks. Sooooo much easier and no chance of the order getting messed up because the person did not hear you correctly. It was easy and enjoyable to order from there.

Animal Kingdom Lodge and Wilderness Lodge were designed by the same architect. I love AKL and when I visited WL, I immediately felt at home. I have upcoming reservations at WL. So AKL and WL are the top resorts in my book:) I just think they're beautiful.

Objectively I'd say it's a toss-up between GF and Poly for top resort.

I've visited but not stayed at the Poly. I gave my DIL her choice last December and she said she's never liked the look of the Poly. She finds it too dark and 70s looking. She told me she had a long time dream of staying at Grand Floridian. But Poly is the best location for transportation since you can walk to TTC. If I do a trip without my DIL, Poly is high on my to try list.

So DIL and I stayed in one of the outer buildings at GF. I thought I was going to feel very out of place at GF. I'm just not into "fancy". But it was surprisingly comfortable. I loved being able to see the MK when I walked to our room. I was surprised on occasion to hear music coming across the lagoon. I enjoyed the monorail when it worked and the boats coming back from MK. I particularly loved walking by the Gingerbread House late at night when the lobby was empty.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of the deluxes. I'd pick the one closest to the park you want to visit the most or the theme that appeals the most.

What a good idea!

Our first stay, many years ago was the Poly. It was nice enough, but we didn't get the WOW factor. Guess we didn't feel the room was "themeie enough"

Then we stayed 4 or 5 times at WL. DH loved it and I couldn't get him to try anywhere else.

Finally got him to try the YC, now can't get him away from that. Being two adults with no kids, we enjoy the proximity to Epcot.

I think variety is good. I would like to try a different resort each trip, but DH won't go for it.
