Show me your resort room organization!
 
We stayed at POP this January and are planning a second trip this coming Jan. We want to stay onsite again and our budget only allows a value resort.
The only complaint dh had about POP was once we had all our stuff in there, it felt cramped. The only organization trick I did was to bring an over the door hanger for our toiletries (which we loved). I thought I read about people hanging a sweater organizer in the "closet" area, etc. Anyone have any pictures to showcase your organization skills..... or other tips how to manage the clutter in those small rooms?

I traveled with three girlfriends one year; we are all very organized.

I always stay at POR.

We used a shoe organizer over the bathroom door and everyone got a "row." Great for make-up, toiletries, hair care stuff, brushes, etc.

And I cannot say enough about taking a surge protector for multiple chargers.

At POR, they also have a bench with a coat rack with pegs on it. We place our backpacks on the pegs and shoes went under the bench.

We each got a drawer and brought a pop-up hamper that we kept in the bottom of the closet. We each took a drawer and then hung up a few items that were "dress-up".

I love using my over the bar accordian style shoe organizer. It holds a lot of toiletry type stuff for both my dd and me. An over the door hanger works well too.
We tend to live out of our bags unless we are staying for more than 4 nights. We do put out dirty stuff in a drawer and then bag it up when we're ready to leave.
Shoes tend to be an issue...so I put all mine beneath the luggage rack that my suitcase is on. Everyone else stores theirs in the closet area, beneath the shoe organizer. Wow, that seems kind of strange when writing it out!!!

Totally agree with these. I also take an extension cord so you can plug that into the surge protector for even more options (we have two laptops, a video camera, two smart phones, and a still camera - for two people).

The pop up hamper at Pop (no pun intended) Century can easily fit next to the sink in the corner under the closet.

Shoes always go under the nightstand, not scattered around the room.

If you are driving, take your empty suitcases back to your car until you need to pack up again. If you are flying, put the empties under the sink and store things you don't need in them.

Use the nightstand drawer.

Unpack the suitcases - I went with my in-laws and they insisted on living out of suitcases which meant we tripped over them all the time. Get them out of the way.

We used the sweater organizers for storing clothes. Kids took clothes out of one row, put pjs, special night time frends back in. Unpacked all the suitcases and repacked with dirty things every night.
We also had all the shoes under the luggage rack. I was a crazy vigilante over clutter - 5 people in one room is very overwhelming!

When space is tight for us, the first thing I will do is live out of my suitcase. Easiest for me as a guy with the least amount of clothes, and I can even carry my toiletries back and forth to the bathroom.

I also like to use a drawer for dirty clothes if possible. Never thought of the pop up hamper but might try that next time!

I clean up all hotel clutter on the tops of things and assign space for each of us as overflow if needed.

Loving these ideas, can't wait to hear more!

So the moral of this story is DO NOT use the drawers to put clean clothes in, since that's where everyone keeps their dirty underwear and sweaty socks?! :scared1:

That's like using the ice buckets for ice...when in reality it seems to be the "puke bucket" for sick kids! :crazy2:

Use the drawers only after you have wiped them out with lysol wipes! :rotfl2:

Ewww I never would have thought that I couldn't use a drawer cause everyone puts their dirty laundry in them. I don't think that is a good thing at all. I don't want to live out of my suitcase for 10 days! Guess I need to figure out away to sanitize the drawers. And using the ice bucket as a puke bucket! That is just gross! Thanks for the other tips!

We use 2 sweater organizers (used for clothes and DD's toys), a bag for dirty clothes, we have a flexible surge power strip for all our electronics, door hanger for our toiletries. We pack our suitcases into each other and then I will wedge it by the headboard between the wall and the bed and we then use it as another small night stand. We use the suitcase stand to hold our plastic bin of snacks, food, utensils etc. and then place our shoes under it. We drive all the time so we end up bringing more then we need, plus we have a sit-n-stand stroller:) We wipe down the drawers, handles and especially the remote with clorox wipes before using, only takes a couple of minutes so no big deal.
I watched a show just last night that followed a family on vacation and did bacteria testing of the stuff in their room(drawers, bed, remote...) and other places that they went and the highest bacteria did not come from their hotel room but from a kids ball pit at an arcade, the serving tray at a Seaworld restuarant and the lap bars from the rides:eek: The highest area were their childs hands and after he used hand sanitizer, it killed almost all the bacteria on his hands. We try to use it as much as we can, but we do forget.

We always line up the empty suitcases under the closet area, except for one that will go under the sink for the dirty clothes. Once it's full it gets wheeled on to the laundry to be washed. I hate to have to come home and wash clothes, so we do them while we are there. Saves on packing also.

We always unpack as soon as we get in the room and we use the drawers-guess I'll be wiping them out first now that I know they are used as laundry hampers by others :rotfl:

I pack toiletries, meds, and first aid type items in plastic shoe boxes that have lids, I get them at the dollar tree. Once we are there I unpack the everyday use stuff and the rest stays in the box on top of the closet area.

Tip for washing mugs-learned from the Dis. Before leaving home get a sponge and cut it up into squares, soak in dish soap and let dry. Pop them in a zip lock bag and you now have a portable way to wash your mug in your room. Once you use them, toss away.

My issue with unpacking and using the drawers? There just isn't enough room in them for everyone to use without squishing all their stuff. So I just put my duffle up on the luggage thingie, and keep my clothes in it. My dd put her suitcase on the floor, next to the luggage rack thingie, up against the connecting door.
The whole dirty laundry in the drawer issue??? It's not as if my used clothing stinks..it's merely been worn and I probably dripped Mickey bar all over the clothes. I put all underwear and socks in a ziploc baggie, in the drawer. So, you guys can stop worrying about following after us!!:thumbsup2

Pop up hamper is a must for us. I always bring a sponge / bottle washer for mugs etc, that ice bucket, ewwwww, that will be the first to get scrubbed with hot, hot, hot water and soap next trip!

Omg I'm completely grossed out about the ice bucket.. I'm a germaphobe so OMG!!!!

(Ok shake it off...) I bring a little basket that DH and I keep our toothbrushes, deodorants, razors, small lotions, aftershave.. This goes on the bathroom counter.

Dirty clothes pop up in the closet, shoes in the closet, I bring those plastic suction cups to hang bathing suits in bathroom.
