Reservations for Large Parties at CRT
Is their a max size for parties at CRT for lunch or dinner. Playing around with reservations and everytime I try to make a reservation for over 5 people it says not available. I am looking at them 180 days out.

There is technically no max party size, but there is a maximum number of people who can sit together at one table. Which is why larger parties are often told "your party may be split up."

And as for availability of larger tables, that is often limited, not just at CRT.
The majority of tables in all WDW restaurants (indeed, in most restaurants everywhere) are 4-seaters.
Next most common are 2 or 3-seaters.
And while WDW does have above-average numbers of larger (6, 8, or 10-seaters) tables, they still have fewer of those overall and so run out of them faster.

We had a group of six at CRT it wasn't an issue, it may be that the tables are just booked :(

I made reservations for 8 people by making 2 separate reservations for the same time period. The first one was for me and the 3 younger kids and the second one for DH and the three older ones. I was ready to be seated separately, but we were given one table together. I made the reservation at the 180 mark.

I would call if you're doing reservations online. I have a reservation for a party of 8 in August and had trouble with it finalizing online, but was easily able to make it over the phone. Good luck!

Last time I was there when we checked in we were told there was a group of 17 coming later that evening!

5 isn't considered a large group. But CRT is a very popular spot, so it is possible that all of the 6 tops are booked already. Have you tried just putting in a general meal period (lunch, supper) rather than a specific time? That sometimes helps. And given the capricious nature of the Disney website, sometimes calling is more productive. If all else fails, perseverence will usually pay off. Hang in there and keep trying.
