What foods have you never tried and will never try?
I have never tried these, and absolutely never will.
Tripe Escargot Frogs legs Chicken feet What are yours? |
I am a picky eater with lots of texture issues so my list would be waaaay too long. Jello makes me gag to give you an idea.

I can't really think of a food I wouldn't eat. I wouldn't eat an endangered species, I suppose, though I did used to eat whale in Japan. I have eaten veal and fois gras years ago, but I probably wouldn't now, just because of the cruelty aspect. Wait! Casu marzu--an Italian cheese with live maggots in it. I would not eat that, even though the Andrew Zimmern force runs strong in me (not much I won't try once.) Quote:

I've had chocolate covered ants but there are a number of other bugs I would be a little to freaked out to eat. I remember seeing Anthony Bourdain eat a scorpion on a stick. I don't think I have the guts to eat that either.

Cow's tongue, pig's or chicken feet and anything's liver.
(Although I've been known to say I'll eat anything if it's covered in chocolate or cheese - but I lie.) :rotfl: |
Well, escargot used to be on the list. I finally tried it and can legitmately say "I don't like it" now. I've also had tongue, yep, didn't care for it, either.
Tripe, brains, chicken feet are still on the list. I'll probably try frogs legs, someday ;) |
my beloved grandfather used to eat the grossest things...lol. he ate brains and eggs, poke salad (or "poke salit", as he called it, it's really just a weed...lol) and eggs, pickled pig feet, those really gross looking eggs you see in big jars on the counters at convenience stores, you name it, he'd eat it.
i will absolutely NEVER, EVER, eat any of these things. i also refuse to eat sardines, salmon, boiled cabbage, fettuccine alfredo, or cottage cheese. with the first 4, it's the smell that gets me. with the cottage cheese...i can't get over how it looks. |
Poke salad was one way that poor, underfed families in the south could get more green vegetables in their diet. Foraging for food is still done in many rural areas in addition to traditional gardening. My dad taught me how to find wild oats & safe mushrooms. My mother taught me that poke salad & dandelion greens were safe to eat. (At least I think it was dandelion greens! Like most Americans, my main food sources are pre-prepared or frozen etc.)

Veal...I just can't.
|
Most if not all of mine are based on my not being able to wrap my brain around putting the stuff into my mouth on purpose.
Escargot. They might be delicious, but I can't get my brain past the slime trail. Raw meat, whether it be steak tartare, sashimi, or whatever. I believe in fire. Cephalopods. That would be squid and octopus. Just... no. Basically anything without a backbone. |
I will not eat long-ear furry creatures that hop. They are friends, not food!

Frog legs......Ahhhh.....the taste of it! :thumbsup2 Basically, I will try nearly anything. I may not like it and won't eat it again, but I think I have had nearly every food previous posters have listed. I like unusual foods. However, I think I would pass on the cheese with maggots. :snooty: And I stopped being able to eat squirrel after we had one for a household pet. |
Horse.....:)
